From sleeve notes: IQ number one becomes no.four in Zang Tuum Tumb's fishy Action Series. "Ain't that peculiar." this single as a 12" is part two in 1985 Escape Act and number seven in Z.T.T's blistered Action Series.

Two hard inner sleeves with color and b/w pictures of the band members, liner notes and promotional items coupons. Then comes the other original material. Krisco Kisses is probably the best of these. Apparently Krisco is (was?) a cheap vegetable shortening used as a lubricant for gay sex. They slipped that one under the radar. These are just pop songs (apart from Wish the lads were Here which is self indulgent toss) and not particularly special. Includes the original double album remastered, plus classic B-sides, Trevor Horn's epic 12" remixes of Relax and The Power of Love, and archive audio interviews.

IT'S DOUBTFUL WHETHER ANY BAND EVER BEFORE HAD SO MUCH FUN OR GAVE SUCH JOYFUL HILARITY TO IT'S LISTENERS" While commercially successful, the album also drew criticism for containing new versions of all of the songs from the group's (already much-remixed) singles from the same year (" Relax" and " Two Tribes", plus B-side " War"), as well as a surfeit of cover versions in lieu of much new original material. It was later revealed that Trevor Horn's production dominated the record so thoroughly that the band's own instrumental performances were often replaced by session musicians or Horn himself. Frankie's second album, Liverpool, actively featured the full band.

Producer Trevor Horn wanted a big launch for his new record label ZTT Records, and he got exactly that with Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s controversial, international smash hit “Relax”. It topped the UK Chart and became the country’s sixth biggest selling single of all time. Their follow-up single “Two Tribes” topped the UK chart for nine weeks. Vary pleasure incessantly (never more than two hours at the same task) and from all these successive pleasures make one continual pleasure."

It's not as if it's that bad, either, everything's 'fine' by 'NR' standards; rather, what offends is its bloated unwieldiness, its smug dedication to gauche time-wasting. Like all these in-studio pop groups (ABC, Human League, Eurythmics, Soft Cell, Heaven 17), these songs aren't 'songs', but improv over a bed of synthesised sound. Some have more structure than others, see (hear) 'Relax', but by and large this is a symbol of the stagnant.
