About this deal

Bájné El Dorado– zlatá země, kterou hledali mnozí dobrodruzi v 16. až 17. století. Nikdy ji však nenašli, tedy jen v tekuté formě. One thing to note - the 12 and 15 yr are completely different rums, with different components from the variety of stills used by Demerara Distillers. Palate: There is a big first wave of the spices and toffee, accompanied by a slight alcoholic sharpness. This is not as complex as the nose suggested, but it is really pleasant. In the finish, there is some astringent wood, but not as bitter as the first one. It fades into lingering vanilla pudding with a slight warmth. The palate/rum finishes slightly flat, which is probably due to some adulteration. So how will the El Dorado work as a mixer? I’ll shake things up a little here for my review and rather than mix with cola we’ll try a little lemonade. It’s fair to say that comparing the El Dorado and the Lemon Hart side by side is quite difficult once you have mixed them. The taste is very similar. The Lemon Hart is slightly sweeter and slightly rougher in terms of the young alcohol mouth feel. The El Dorado is more muted in terms of flavour but is a smoother and slightly easier spirit to drink. With cola it is much the same story both hold their own and make a pleasant mixed drink. Nothing is really floating my boat though.

The original narrative can be found in the rambling chronicle El Carnero of Juan Rodriguez Freyle. According to Freyle, the zipa of the Muisca, in a ritual at Lake Guatavita near present-day Bogotá, was said to be covered with gold dust, which he then washed off in the lake while his attendants threw objects made of gold, emeralds, and precious stones into the lake—such as tunjos. First of all, I am glad to tell you that my hiatus is finally over. In a broader sense, I work in public health, so the last year was a really demanding one and other things had priority. Retrieved 2016-07-12.The fable of Juan Martinez was founded on the adventures of Juan Martin de Albujar, well known to the Spanish historians of the Conquest; and who, in the expedition of Pedro de Silva (1570), fell into the hands of the Caribs of the Lower Orinoco. [1] This article is about the lost city of gold. For other uses, see El Dorado (disambiguation). The zipa, a mythical tribal chief of the native Muisca people, was said to cover his body in gold dust, and from his raft offer treasures to the Guatavita goddess in the middle of the sacred lake. This old Muisca tradition became the origin of the legend of El Dorado. A Demerara rum is probably a rum that someone with a more sweet tooth will take to. I have seen Ron Zacapa noted for being very sweet. I think this rum is sweeter. However, nothing about this rum seems artificial. You don’t get that caramel or spiced taste sum rums do carry. It never becomes cloying. I look forward to your reply…and once again thank you for your devotion to the true appreciation and understanding of Nelson’s Blood…

And the opinion that it doesn't compare favorably to the 15 yr is not shared by many - in addition to myself, at least half the serious rum critics and aficionados I know of prefer the 12 year, though IMO the margin is slim and I love both. However, given the difference in price I see no reason to buy the 15 yr.

He went about all covered with powdered gold, as casually as if it were powdered salt. For it seemed to him that to wear any other finery was less beautiful, and that to put on ornaments or arms made of gold worked by hammering, stamping, or by other means, was a vulgar and common thing. [ citation needed] In the mythology of the Muisca, Mnya the Gold or golden color, represents the energy contained in the trinity of Chiminigagua, which constitutes the creative power of everything that exists. [3] Chiminigagua is related to Bachué, Cuza, Chibchacum, Bochica, and Nencatacoa. a b John Hemming, Red Gold: The Conquest of the Brazilian Indians, 1500–1760, Harvard University Press, 1978. ISBN 0674751078 The earliest reference to an El Dorado-like kingdom occurred in 1531 during Ordaz's expedition when he was told of a kingdom called Meta that was said to exist beyond a mountain on the left bank of the Orinoco River. Meta was supposedly abundant in gold and ruled by a chief that only had one intact eye. [11] Inspection of the Welser army by Georg von Speyer (right) and Philipp von Hutten (center) at Venezuela. Finally, if you’re exploring the world of El Dorado (or rum in general), I’d recommend starting with the 3 & 5-year-old rum types and slowly working your way up to discover which one resonates with your palate.
