About this deal

The latter make me actually care about these characters as more than just ciphers - as people with normal lives on top of the superheroic craziness. I haven't read enough DD to have a good handle on things, I only read a few of the Brubaker volumes, and I'm always wanting to get more into Daredevil.

Cap needed super soldier serum to make him so formidable and Daredevil just needed chemicals to blind him. While I did read both Miller and Smith’s run on Daredevil, I missed out on both Brubaker (one of my favorites) and Bendis. Collected editions of the entire reading chronology of Mark Waid’s run on Marvel's Daredevil, comprised of two ongoing series, Daredevil (2011) and Daredevil (2014). And then there is the part where he is coaching people in their own cases as he can't practise law because identity exposure and then you have him come across a guy named Austin and that one is connected to Midas corporation and the five criminal enterprise and how Matt saves him and uncovers a big conspiracy, this volume was so much fun and gets everything right! That’s not to say that there aren’t serious stakes at play here but Waid and co inject a lot of fun into DD’s kicking of asses.

Mark Waid takes Daredevil to new territories, pairing him up against unusual adversaries like Spot, mega-criminal organizations AIM and Hydra, and two particular Marvel villains that I won't mention to avoid spoilers. Losing Your Head: One arc has Daredevil break up a human trafficking ring with the twist that the lynchpin is a new villain named Coyote who has replicated the Spot's powers. Using his radar sense, Matt can detect that Bruiser's body can't handle the changes to his body made by the power, so he concentrates on one shattering bone and hits it, escaping from Bruiser. The only thing I didn’t like was the continued fat jokes about Foggy, which are really old at this point (especially the scene where he eats a whole cheesecake with his bare hands, which was just weird and gross — Foggy isn’t a disgusting person, he knows how to use utensils! It also tones down the grungy street criminal factor and makes DD seem like a part of the routine Marvel universe again by having him mix it up with super-villains like Mole Man and team-up with Spider-Man as they try to clear Black Cat from a robbery accusation.

Save the Villain: Daredevil saves Bullseye from drowning in radioactive chemicals in the latter's latest appearance. Mark Waid and his artistic collaborators in Paolo Rivera and Marcos Martin bring us a refreshing take on the Man Without Fear. Having turned his world upside over the past several years, Matt Murdock realizes that justice may not be blind to his past and villains may not be the only ones looking for answers. Constantly Changing Name: A Running Gag is that Kristie keeps changing the name on the door of the law firm every time it appears.
