Like many consumer products that contain chemicals (from shampoo to make up), there is a reasonable chance that any hand sanitiser or gel could have been tested on animals at some stage in its development. As with certain medicines and vaccinations, there might be a regulatory requirement for such products to have been tested on animals at some point, or at least for certain ingredients and formulations to have been tested on animals. Additionally, 3D behavioral studies in 3% w/v gelatin report a velocity of 5 mm/min 17. Even though systematic studies comparing locomotory prowess in these different media have not been conducted, available findings indicate that the Pluronic medium is likely to be a more demanding burrowing environment for C. elegans than agar or gelatin.
