About this deal

At the end of the first season, an anime film adaptation of the Episode Nagi manga was also announced. [14] The film will feature the staff and cast reprising their roles with Shunsuke Ishikawa, who served as assistant director for the first season, assigned to direct the film and manga writer Muneyuki Kaneshiro supervising the story. [52] It will premiere in Japanese theatres on April 19, 2024. [53] Stage plays [ edit ] The series takes place just after Japan lost in the round of 16 in the 2018 Soccer World Cup. New hire to the Japan Football Union, Anri Teieri, is frustrated by the national team once again falling apart against the skill of the rest of the world and has come up with a plan to change things. Together with coach Jinpachi Ego, Anri is proposing a project to produce new players from promising youth talent who can be shaped into something different and who will lead the team to victory. A second play, subtitled 2nd Stage, is scheduled to run January 18–24, 2024, at Kyoto Theater and January 25–31 at Hulic Hall Tokyo. The play was again directed and written by Ise and Kōhei Nagata joined the cast as Rin Itoshi. [55] [13] Video game [ edit ] In January 2021, Kodansha USA announced that they have licensed the manga for English digital release in North America, starting on March 16, 2021. [4] In January 2022, Kodansha USA announced that they would release the manga in print. [5]

Anime starts Sunday, October 9th, so I had see what this was all about and was not disappointed as this has a lot of potential. This was allover wild and not what I expected. I'm just here for the ride and the crazy angry drawn faces.Muneyuki Kaneshiro and artist Yusuke Nomura (creator of Dolly Kill Kill, also available from Kodansha) have put a lot of time into researching both Japanese soccer and the game as a whole. Although you may not agree that this game of tag we see in the second half of Volume 1 has anything to do with soccer, the reasoning Junpachi lays out afterwards makes a lot of sense in context. I’m willing to put aside any scepticism I have about the setup simply because it’s so much fun to watch the egotistical strikers face off against each other.

To be honest, I think Japan and South Korea are doing pretty good as Asian countries in the field of international football championships! But in the realm of boy's manga, you just have to be the No. 1 at everything, no matter what, right? Right!? So off we go sending 300 teenagers to a training camp until the last one standing, YAHOOO!!! The story begins with Japan’s elimination from the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which prompts the Japanese Football Union to start a program scouting high school players who will begin training in preparation for the 2022 Cup. Isagi Yoichi, a forward at Ichinan High School, receives an invitation to this program when his team fails to get to Nationals. Encouraged to engage in teamwork, he had passed to his less-skilled teammate – who missed – without trying to make the game-changing goal by himself. This failing, and his invitation to matriculate into this new program, establishes a basis in discussing the ideas of egoism and individual effort in sports, which appears throughout the manga and anime.I was searching for a Kageyama due to most sports manga's having the Kageyama-verse, but alas not one in sight yet. To be determined. That being said I do see a Kageyama look alike. I'm looking at you Isagi! 👀 Anyways, going into the manga, I don't know what to expect, and honestly, at first, I felt like it was like... every other sports manga? I think its because I've grown up with literal legends in sports mangas and animes that makes me quite skeptical to start a new one. Making one the strongest opponent even on their main team. As our main character, Isagi, learns a new kind of way of thinking in regards to soccer, we see him turn into a very different person. I wouldn't say it's bad mind you, but again, this is different than say manga like Haikyu!! where each person aims to improve, but they also seek to improve as a TEAM. Just to be clear, his manga isn't about being an asshole to others, or hurting others to get what you want. It's about personal growth in its purest form, and the author understand that part of people better than most other authors I've read. The introduction was good, and like every first volume, we have to read the second to really know what's going on, but for a start, it caught my attention. Super intense, and I liked that.... It's not cliche :') The competition is bloody intense, and honestly, I'm not surprised because in the real football world, its also as intense ; just that the training centres here exaggerated in a sense. The manga has also been licensed in France by Pika Édition; [6] in Germany by Kazé; [7] in Taiwan by Tong Li Publishing; [8] in South Korea by Haksan Publishing; [9] in Italy by Panini Comics; [10] in Spain by Planeta DeAgostini; [11] in Thailand by Vibulkij Publishing; [12] in Indonesia by Elex Media Komputindo; [13] and in Argentina by Editorial Ivrea. This time… it worked. Why? Because that's just the start of the over the top extremes. It's going to go so much further, that this little moment at the start mentioned above honestly seems quite reserved. I really hope this gets printed because I love how it has a Hunger Games-like setting, but with soccer being the focus! We have some really interesting side characters and would be very curious to see where things go next because it seems like it's going to keep getting more intense! Honestly, this is not a bad thing. It somehow manages to combine the "survival game" style of manga with a sports one, which is an odd choice, but certainly unique enough to make it stand out and generally pulls it off. It makes this over the top nature more fitting as the people involved in this project are literally going to ruin 299 lives for the sake of one and the book seems to alternate between "wow, that's horrible" and "what a great idea." It's ridiculous to the extent that it actually makes this usually unintentionally comic aspect, turns it up to 11, and makes it entertaining for me.
