All regrets stem from what happened at one moment we never imagined would happen to us. When our own action brings about an unexpected result, how can we not experience huge regret? After all, do we ever get another shot?”

My favorite in the series is still the third book 'Before Your Memory Fades'. I still enjoyed this fourth book, although some parts were a bit underwhelming, and although it wasn't a new favorite, these stories and this series brings a feeling a comfort and familiarity that I seek. I still love the idea and concept of the stories, and even though they're repetitive, that's what I enjoy. I would've liked for us to interact more with the staff, as I so enjoy their quirks and conversations. The fourth novel in the internationally bestselling Before the Coffee Gets Cold Series, following a new group of customers in a magical time-traveling Tokyo café Another visit to the magical Cafe Funiculi Funicula with this 4th instalment; I guess the setting was after book 1 but before book 2(?) considering that Kazu is not pregnant yet and Miki was still a baby (she was in middle school in book 3), also Fusagi was here (I love him!) and still ‘cutely’ minding his business fumbling over travel magazine and brochure before Kohtake came looking for him. Nothing new with the concept and theme, 4 fragments of regrets and a heartwarming meet again moment before the coffee gets cold with another 4 visitors; a husband with something important left to say, a pet-owner who couldn’t bid her dog farewell, a woman who couldn’t answer a marriage proposal and a daughter who drove her father away. Sadly, Sunao was dozing when Apollo went to his reward, and she feels terrible about her lapse. Thus Sunao wants to return to the past. I guess it all comes down to personal preference and which stories seem more relatable to you. I'm sure everyone, every single reader, can find at least a couple stories in this series (4 stories in each book. So, 16 in total now.) that will definitely make them sob and cry or laugh and giggle and just plain connect with.

He wouldn’t have wanted me to cry. So, I’m going to live my life feeling good about myself. That’s what I want to say to those two when I get home: Thank you…” The fourth novel in Toshikazu Kawaguchi’s internationally bestselling 'Before the Coffee Gets Cold' series. Before We Say Goodbye by Toshikazu Kawaguchi (translated by Geoffrey Trousselot) is the fourth installment of the Before the Coffee Gets Cold series and personally one of my favorites (along with Book #2, Tales from the Café ).A light sentimental read overall, a narrative that might grasped you to appreciate that littlest moment with your loved ones; to truly love with gratitude, of no worries or ill-intent before you might regret a chance and forget on the goodbyes.
