About this deal

Tower include a booklet which instructs you in the various methods, but most essential to know is the amount of oil one adds to the basket will determine what cook method is used. The air will circulate in the Tower air fryer no matter what, so it is the oil added that dictates the crispy outcome. The Technology in the Tower Air fryer technology is improving all the time. Older models might take a while to get going, and can require more oil than newer designs. Cheaper models may also require you to parboil chips, which might not be ideal if you’re looking for fast cooking times.

This capacity of air fryer is not large enough to feed a family. If you're a couple or single person (read as single chef) you'll probably be satisfied with the capacity. The ventilation on the Tower T17023 is pretty good, although this could be due to the size of the machine. It doesn't take as much oil or fat to begin with, and when using without adding fat you only get a small breeze of hot air. Still, I prefer to use all air fryers in a well-ventilated environment, like under or close to the extraction fan above my hobs. As you can imagine, pricing is one of the most important factors of any purchasing decision. We can find the perfect product for our needs, that fits the brief in every single way. But if it doesn’t fit our budgets, we simply can’t (or at least shouldn’t) buy it. Adjust the cooking temperature up to 200C with the easy to use control dial and set the timer up to 30 minutes to suit the needs of your recipe. The next step for us was to look at all of the products that fall within the Fryers category, of which we found 31 products at Argos. So we pulled together all of the prices of these products to analyse the average prices as well as finding the cheapest and most expensive options.

Find the best air fryer to help you cut your energy bills and save time cooking your favourite dishes

The Tower Vortx is super small, which makes it ideal for cramped kitchens: it’s just under 30cm high, with a depth of 20cm and a width of 22cm. Rated capacity is 1.5L, but we found the basket was pretty much full with 500g of food. What this means in practice is that to get the same effect, crisping and browning, as another fryer, you'll likely need to use some cooking oil. Adding this via a spray or basting method increases the fat content in your food, something air frying traditionally tends to reduce. Of the 31 products, we discovered that 27 were more expensive and 2 were cheaper than Tower T17023 Compact Air Fryer. Prices from Tower CAPACITY: Family-sized air fryer with a large 4.3-litre capacity lets you serve up enough portions to go around the whole table Its compact dimensions will fit neatly into smaller kitchens or onto already crowded countertops, and the controls couldn’t be simpler: two physical dials allow you to set the cooking temperature between 80ºC and 200ºC and set a timer of up to 30 minutes.

The Dual Zone’s Max Crisp function is also worth shouting about, as it cooks thinner frozen foods such as chips, onions rings, and nuggets in a fraction of the time it would take a standard convection oven. During testing, one portion of frozen potato lattices came out perfectly crisp and golden in just six minutes, compared to the recommended 15-minute oven cooking time stated on the bag. This air fryer can also bake, roast, dehydrate, and reheat, making it a versatile tabletop multi cooker. Despite being a budget-friendly option, the T17023 was no slouch in testing, cooking oven classics such as spring rolls and hash browns to a commendable crispness and performing solidly when tasked with more delicate items like meat and vegetables. The first is brand. Looking at the brand of the product is often a really good indicator for judging product quality. For example you’d expect a much higher quality product from a brand known for providing excellent quality than you would from an unknown or even a budget brand.

Like its predecessor, the FlexDrawer comes with an array of thoughtful functions including its match and sync settings, the former of which allows you to match the time and temperature of both sides of the fryer without having to input all the information twice, while the latter syncs up both sizes of the fryer, so they finish at the same time, even when at different temperatures of cook times. You’ll also recognise all the classic settings for air frying, roasting, baking, reheating, proving and dehydrating, as well as the Max Crisp setting, which allows you to crank up the heat to a whopping 240ºC. The best models will have a number of basics you should look out for. These include weight and temperature settings, so you can adjust the heat and cook time to suit your ingredients. The next step was to try and narrow down our search even more. So we’ve already looked the prices of products in the Fryers category. Then we’ve also looked at the prices of products from Tower. So this step combines the two and looks specifically at the price you’d expect to pay for Tower branded products in the Fryers category. MORE MEAL CHOICES: Fry, roast, grill and bake functions allow you to make a variety of meals such as stuffed vegetables, muffins, pork chops and more

The 360-degree stirring paddle is incredibly handy and ensures food is evenly and consistently cooked without the need for shaking your food mid-cooking cycle. Nine automatic cooking functions take most of the guesswork out of air frying but there’s still an option to manually set the time and temperature if need be. What’s more, if you’re using these presets, the Genius+ (and every other Genius model in the range) automatically adjusts the temperature and stirring paddle during cooking so your food isn’t overcooked.More information on quality can be found in this old but still very helpful article from Harvard Business Review. Air fryers work by convection, meaning they circulate hot air around your food, ensuring every bit of surface area is exposed to the oil and heat. You simply need to spray or pour a little oil onto whatever you’re cooking before switching on the appliance – although you don’t always have to use oil if you don’t want to. Add just a dash, however, and a clever chemical process called the Maillard reaction creates a crispy result with far less fat – up to 99% in some cases. Rapid air circulation creates crispier textures across your mealtime favourites, 30% faster than a conventional oven

Harnessing the power of the Vortx technology, your food is enveloped in hot air that is rapidly circulated evenly to give your dishes an even cook with a crispy texture all with little to no oil needed. Easily adjust the cooking temperature up to 200°C and set the 30 minute timer to suit your recipe using built-in manual dialsI wouldn't recommend the Tower T17023 for a family, if you're looking for an air fryer to feed the whole street you'd be better off with one of Tower's 12-litre models. However, if you're a singleton or a couple who want to reduce their energy bill and their fat intake, the Tower might be the right option. VORTX TECHNOLOGY: Rapid air circulation creates crispier textures across your mealtime favourites, 30% faster than a conventional oven LESS FAT: Little to no oil is required, all while keeping the same great taste, so you lose the fat not the flavour All that space isn’t just there so you can bulk fry chips, though. The extra-large capacity houses Tefal’s 2in1 function, which enables you to cook two different elements of your meal in one place. With a rotating stirring paddle on the bottom and a static upper tray on top, you can cook a curry and air fry samosas in the same machine, saving on time and washing up.
