About this deal

The Fat Controller sets out on a mission to find him and literally every single scene where he appears in is literal torture and by the end of the movie, Thomas is somewhat treated as a hero and poor Sir Topham Hatt is left abandoned at sea. I love that his two spotlight episodes this season are about him trying to do stuff for his wife and grandchildren, away from the railway, only for things to go wrong and for them to depend on the railway. He lied about the names, he lied that Duck came up with them and when given the opportunity to come clean at the sheds, he lies once again. He constructed a bridge to link Sodor with the Mainland, as well as a number of branch lines and improvements to locomotive facilities. In the United States, on the other hand, he is instead portrayed as a costumed character (with the performer's face hidden).

The first use of the name Sir Topham Hatt in the TV series comes in the episode 'The Sad Story of Henry' when the narrator ( Ringo Starr in both UK version and the first US version and George Carlin in the second US version) introduces him to the audience. The "model" part is responsible of handling all the stuff that isn't strictly "web", such as validation, logic, data access, etc. See back when I was growing up, (and I’m only in my mid twenties), a parent and an adult in general was a senior figure, someone you respected, someone you looked up to. Though unlike the other characters on this list (pre and post), Diesel never appeared in Tragic Failroad, so his voices are strictly limited to the CGI series. That’s why the engines are always upset when he reprimands them for their selfish careless acts, not just because it’s wrong and embarrassing, but because they feel like they’ve let him down, a man who’s given them everything they could want. But on the other hand moving the logic from the controllers to a service layer looks simply like the new layer creation for the sake of it.

This is not revealed directly in the stories, as they all look very similar and are all known as Sir Topham Hatt. Gordon actually grows in this book, changes for the better but none of it would’ve been possible had the Fat Controller not issued a severe punishment at the beginning. On television, he was usually portrayed in the form of several different static figures made with either wood or lead during series one, and resin from series two onwards, [1] but has been portrayed using CGI from the twelfth season onward. All that matters to him is that his engines are well behaved, follow the rules, work hard and sensibly, not cause a great fuss and perhaps most importantly aren’t deceitful. When creating application services, it is my preference to hide the implementation behind an interface to allow for easier testing, for extension via decorators, and to make my intention of loose coupling as clear as possible.
