Anthony from Sullivan, OhI love this song, but, can anyone find the song "Empire"? Because I can't. Darwin from Ralston, NeDoes anyone else think that parts of this song sound like Alice Cooper's "Only Women Bleed"? Aviance from AzHas anyone ever had a dream that seemed real, Or dreamed of a place that is real and will get there one day, find the way to go there by dreaming about it again when the time is right? The Unknown from EarthThe words are wrong in the song not the whole song just one line he says as I lay next to you Silent Lucidity if you listen to the song that's exactly what he says it's easy to hear people need to come off the child molestation craze and get the words right I'm pretty sure it's not against the law for a father to lay next to his Young daughter after after she's just had a nightmare Interpretation is everything........I have read every comment posted on this board and cannot fault anyones opinion. All seem to connect to this song for a reason close to the heart. As an instrumentalist, I always listen to melody, instrumentation and engineering first....then perhaps ro lyrics. that is the way it has always been for my prioritizing music......until recently.

AnonymousIt's a very beautiful song it drives me to tears every time I hear it it helps me feel a connection a spiritual connection Kris from Purgatory My Father died when I was 16. I was 24 when my mother died. I am smiling next to you in Silent Lucidity Silent Lucidity is a tribute to the power of lucid dreaming. The song’s lyrics describe a person who is struggling to cope with their problems in the waking world. In their dreams, however, they find solace and peace. The dreamer is aware that they are dreaming, and as a result, they can shape their own reality. The idea behind “Silent Lucidity” stemmed from DeGarmo’s fascination with the potential of lucid dreaming, a state where the dreamer becomes aware that they are dreaming and, with practice, can control the dream’s events. This theme is powerfully reflected in the lyrics and the narrative flow of the song, providing listeners with a guide on how to navigate through the often surreal landscape of their dreams. Lisa from IndianaLove this song. Always have. My question is- what are the spoken words during the instrumental part. Tried to Google it. Tate also talked about "Silent Lucidity"'s lasting influence, saying that "People have been married to that song, children have been born to that song, people have been buried to that song, and children have been made to that song. It's really had quite an impact on the population, you know."

DeGarmo’s fascination with dream control could have been prompted by the desire to delve into the subconscious, which is a potent source of creativity. For musicians and lyricists, dreams can serve as an inspiration fountain, helping them decode their emotions and experiences into relatable lyrics. Lynsey from United States My sister and I found comfort in this song from the moment we heard it first. Our beloved brother had died at 19 years old, having taken his own life some years before. We wrote “I’m smiling next to you “ on countless greeting cards over the years as a message of comfort to each other. She dedicated this song to me at her wedding. When she died and then our mom, i interred then together with our dad and brother and inscribed the lyric on their headstone. I miss them every day but this song still makes me feel close to them , even now . Thank you Queensryche for writing it . Sincerely from the Reed family. So here it is, another chance, wide awake you face the day. The dream is over, or has it just begun....? During a recent appearance on "Trunk Nation", Eddie Trunk's show on SiriusXM channel Volume (106), Tate was asked if he ever imagined when "Silent Lucidity" was first written that it would become such a cross-genre hit. He responded: "No. And I doubt anybody does that ever writes a song that becomes very popular. There's no way to predict that; you just write what it is you write."Melissa from 38606I was suffering from horrible images of horror as a child. Every night, I would lay in bed and see the scariest dark entities walk into my room and stare at me. I was frozen in fear. These didn’t feel like nightmares.. they were real in my mind, because my eyes were open. It still horrifies me, although the logical thing to call it, would be “sleep paralysis.” I was watching MTV when I was 11 or 12 when I saw this video for the first time and became obsessed. This became a powerful lullaby after the prayers didn’t work. I listened to this song every night as I fell asleep. It helped me overcome the horror that had been entering my bedroom for so many years. This song scared away those demons and fear. Meredith from Asheboro, NcI absolutely love this song. Everytime I hear the rhythm to it I cry. It has a very beautiful melody to it. AnonymousI have always loved this song, nowhere than ever. The lyrics have brought me great comfort with how it talks about the game of life being over and comforting a child. My son recently passed away, leaving behind a sweet baby for me to love. I had the words from the song, "a soul set free to fly" placed on my son's grave marker. Truly he was set free from his long term illness. I love, love, love this song and the comfort it brings me. With its intricate exploration of the world of dreams and the subconscious, “Silent Lucidity” offers a journey into the human mind’s complexities and depths, an expedition that only intensifies with the story behind the creation of this song. The Story Behind “Silent Lucidity” This song is very deep...It is a truly spiritual song. As with many songs, it can have different meanings to different people, but to me, it is not only about actual dreams, but about a loving presence that is there with you in life as you are dreaming, either literally or figuratively...And that is "watching over you" and "Gonna help you see it through" and "will protect you in the night" (which could be taken too as protecting you through the dark times in your life)...And then...my favorite lyric, "IF you open your mind for me, you won't rely on open eyes to see...." I love this...I love this...I love this... and always will...

Silent Lucidity” begins with a comforting whisper, “Hush now, don’t you cry,” suggesting a reassuring presence guiding the listener, or the dreamer, into the world of dreams. The line, “It was all a bad dream spinning in your head,” indicates the start of a lucid dream, where one is aware they are dreaming and can control the dream narrative. My friend has a limited time left on this planet, she knows it, and has made peace with herself, showing so much strength I can only admire her. As I read through the lyrics, and watched theor souls being released from their bodies, there were three avenues of thought. One, it was written in the first person.....two, it was penned in the second person......and three, the third.........a higher power......a supreme being.......a higher intelligence.....Divine intervention....( God if you are a believer)......I have broken down every time I have heard or played this song since..... i do omow this.....it helped me cope with what I know will be an inevitable outcome.....to accept a beautiful friends demise....to question ones own beliefs.....to heal. Thank you Queensrych. If you would have left this song off your album i wouldnt have the wonderful memories that i share with my children! Visualize your dream, record it in the present tense / Put it into a permanent form / If you persist in your efforts, you can achieve dream control.” These lines offer practical guidance for lucid dreaming, encouraging the dreamer to consciously engage with their dreams, suggesting a path to self-awareness and personal growth. Greg from Dallas, TxLucid dreaming eh? A favorite passtime of mine. So why does everyone think of dead people when they hear this? A very mellow tune really. The Hellraiser quote breaks it up nicely.Zephyr from Olympia, WaI wasn't surprised to learn that Chris got the idea for this song from Reading "Creative Dreaming" (by Patricia Garfield). I read that book years ago and found it very informative on the subject of how to remember dreams and lucid dreams. I started having lucid dreams shortly after reading that book. Lucid dreams are wonderful experiences because you are "awake in the dream." In this beautiful song I see it take this a step farther....the guide or guardian is asking their charge to be awake in the dream of life. Not literal dreams but Life itself. To become more fully conscious. And from that state to create the reality around them without doubt or fear. Such a truly noble goal in life but one that is rarely chosen. I cry every time I hear this song because it touches a deep longing within me to reach beyond this blind and ignorant human condition. There is a place is me that knows there is so much more we are capable of if only we can break the bonds of fear and limiting beliefs. Tracy from Eldon, MoI CRY WHEN I HEAR THIS SONG. IT REMINDS ME OF MY DAD WHO DIED 6 YEARS AGO. TODAY IS HIS BIRTHDAY. Criblez, David J. (November 11, 2016). "Three lead singers take LI solo flights". Newsday . Retrieved June 28, 2021.

This is all confirmed by the lyric "commanding in another realm" Jesus told us that his kingdom was not of this realm!! But if you give yourself to him, he will never leave you, he is always by your side! And he is smiling, because he knows your journey, he knows that you will be ok, and that you will find your way home to him!!! The reason why the dreaming makes sense in because Jesus told us that we could travel and see him in our dreams!! He also calls himself the door... and he is the door out of this prison system!!! It's all in the holy bible!! Its incredible really because whomever wrote it must have known the TRUTH!!!! PRAISE JESUS!!!Former QUEENSRŸCHE singer Geoff Tate says that the band's touching ballad "Silent Lucidity" almost didn't make the band's triple-platinum-certified album "Empire". Camille from Toronto, OhWhen this song came out, a lot of people found comfort and meaning in it. But I wasn't one of them. For many reasons, I completely misunderstood the song message. First of all, I wasn't sure what lucidity was, and learning it meant dream control was unsettling for me and not comforting. And why does it have to be "silent" which can imply secrecy and mystery (and is not what I want in a dream). I also thought the distorted voice in the middle of the song was scary. I couldn't make out what it was saying and thought a frightening presence was invading someone's dream. The worst part was when the child-like voice says "Hug me." I thought the voice was saying "Help me!" like they were in distress. Another thing, I don't find the idea of someone hovering over me while I sleep to be soothing, whether I'm a child or adult and regardless if it's a loved one who's very much alive and present or has passed and is watching from a spiritual realm. I mean, who's supposed to be controlling the dream: me, a discombobulated voice or some hovering presence over my bed? No thank you. Day from Blue Ridge Mountains, Vathis is my favourite song. no matter how many times i hear it, i still get goosebumps in certain parts and i cry. it's a true classic.
