About this deal

Dealing with manufacturing issues really early on, we have an amazing partner but sometimes you can’t get ingredients or there is a fire in the factory, which we genuinely had a week before we were meant to go into our first-ever production round. JD: A fire in the factory? Marisa Poster sees PerfectTed as disrupting the high-growth energy drink market with an “approachable brand and products that outperform on health, functionality, and flavour”. This weekend, Teddie and Levi absolutely CRUSHED the Florence Marathon in just 3hrs 25mins (while I cheered them on, very comfortably, from the sidelines ☺️). Marisa says she has long been aware of the relationship between food and the body. Aged 17 she had a tumour in her hip. “I really started to focus on my diet and healthy food, as what you put in your body is so intrinsically tied to your health.” Our drinks are made from organic, ceremonial grade matcha sourced directly from local farms in Uji, Japan, REAL fruit juices (not from concentrate), and British water. It's that simple.

This all-natural energy drink contains juicy pear, working in sweet harmony with a satisfying zing of ginger. She and the Levenfiches live together in London and are regular Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue congregants. How’s that going? “We have been working with Steven very closely,” says Teddie. “He’s an amazing supporter of the brand. We’re such huge fans of him and it’s through listening to his podcast that we have been able to get through the challenges of the first 16 months in business, so to have him on board as an investor, mentor and adviser is immensely helpful.” He adds: “There’s definitely an extra element to our brand now as everything we do is a reflection of Steven and his own brand – we’re incredibly motivated to prove him right for investing in us.” Speaking to The Mirror, the group shared what they believe helped them in the Den, and secrets of the show viewers might be unaware of - including the very short notice they had. 'We were told only five days in advance' PerfectTed’s three-strong range is made using00% natural ingredients, with no additives, preservatives or added sugarMP: We were actually meant to be making the drinks for the first time ever with our commercial recipe in a small sample tank and the tank set on fire and was out of commission for about two-and-a-half months. The first UK-based energy drink to win a Great Taste Award, PerfectTed Matcha Green Tea Energy Drinks are available in three unique flavour combinations of matcha green tea, lightly sparkling water and real fruit juice, the range includes: Tesco buyer, Libby Lee, said the retailer is excited about a partnership with PerfectTed to grow the natural energy category with a range of “delicious drinks that put functionality and health first.”

A friend mentioned that matcha was caffeinated and it had loads of other health benefits. Obviously, this sounded way too good to be true but when I did try it, it really had a almost life changing effect on me." I said during the show that our goal is world domination and I stand by my statement,” Ms Poster said. “The future is natural energy so these large players already in the market will have to keep up to meet the changing needs of consumers.” All drinks are less than 60 calories and abundant in naturally occurring amino acids, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. The drink is 100% natural with NO additives, preservatives, or added sugar, and each can contains 80mg of caffeine – as well as being 7 kcals per 100ml. Also, PerfectTed donates 1% of its sales to nonprofits. In the first collaboration between media outlets from different faiths, Jewish News worked with British Muslim TV and Church Times to produce a list of young activists leading the way on interfaith understanding. On top of focusing on simple ingredients, PerfectTed also prioritizes transparency and sustainability in its business model—starting with its supply chain. Typically, a café would buy matcha from a domestic wholesaler, who had bought the product from a wholesaler in Japan. This multi–step chain often means less money for the farmer who originally grew the tea leaves, and it creates a disconnect between the business and suppliers that makes it difficult to verify ingredient quality. Its three-strong range is made using 100% natural ingredients, with no additives, preservatives or added sugar. The combination of matcha green tea, sparkling water and fruit juice gives each can 80mg of caffeine, which is equivalent to a Red Bull. just like I’ll miss the day-to-day of scaling PerfectTed if and when this chapter ends (hopefully not for a while lol). Energy drinks start-up PerfectTed has secured high-profile investment following an appearance on Dragons’ Den. But after going through all the effort to find high–quality matcha, adding unnecessary ingredients was a non–starter for PerfectTed. “If we were using additives and preservatives, we wouldn't be doing anything that innovative,” Teddie says. “There are other companies out there that have cut corners to take the easy way out.”

Marisa added: "We want to be the largest natural energy and matcha brand globally. We're already making strong moves and already available in nine countries." Mr Levenfiche added that “Steven Bartlett especially was a big inspiration to us in starting the brand. For us to get such a positive response from him and for him to say how much he respected us as entrepreneurs meant the world.” Grit & grind: marathon prep and startup life demand early mornings, late nights, sweat, and even blood and tears. With each hurdle overcome is a step (or a leap) forward.JD: You recently received GBP50,000 from the UK investor TV show Dragons’ Den. What’s that cash being used for and any plans for further funding rounds? She added the Tesco listing also made the natural energy drink “readily accessible nationwide and marking yet more rapid growth for our business”. Launched in 2021, PerfectTed (the name is a play on ‘perfected’ and ‘perfect ten’) was born from a desire to bring the green-tea-powered energy drinks – made with matcha and flavoured with real fruit – to the masses. They have managed to get the range into more than 1,000 Tesco stores nationwide, plus Holland & Barrett, Planet Organic, Selfridges and Joe & The Juice, among other well-known retailers. There are three flavours – apple raspberry, pineapple yuzu, and pear ginger. The company also sells ceremonial-grade matcha powder. Growing up in New York, Marisa was a member of the Temple Shaaray Tefila (synagogue). She moved to London and completed a Masters of Science in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Management at Imperial College. She often attends Norrice Lea on Friday nights, with Teddie and Levi, who are members there.

Mr Bartlett said that “once in a while, you have entrepreneurs come into the den that you just have a huge degree of admiration for. And the journey you’re on as young entrepreneurs is a similar journey that I’ve been on as well.”PerfectTed was created with a mission to transform the energy industry with delicious drinks, using simple, 100% natural ingredients with no additives, preservatives, or added sugar, just all-natural energy. Powered by organic, ceremonial grade matcha, an antioxidant-rich, Japanese matcha green tea, PerfectTed contains 80mg caffeine (equivalent to a Red Bull or small cup of coffee) and a more enduring and stable energy source. PerfecTed has expertly blended citrusy fresh yuzu with punchy pineapple to create a ridiculously refreshing experience. Mr Levenfiche, also 25, added: “It’s a massive risk to appear on national television. You don’t know how you’ll come across. You might forget figures, and taste is subjective.” I have suffered with ADHD and anxiety for years and I used to consume loads of caffeine from coffee and energy drinks during college," she said. Most brands don’t use this process because it’s far more expensive. “It's much cheaper to use lower–quality ingredients, and use additives to change the flavor and make it more palatable,” Teddie explains.
