Track-list wise, Just Dance sticks closer to modern pop than any previous entry in the series – its 47-song list is dominated by the likes of One Direction, Katy Perry, Nicky Minaj and – finally – Lady Gaga, but there’s some ABBA, Village People, Bob Marley and, um, Daft Punk for variety. These routines except for Baby Girl got removed from the Xbox 360 Marketplace as of August 20th, 2023. There’s not a lot here that wasn’t in Just Dance 4, or even Just Dance 3, but the series’ talent for getting people up and dancing is still unmatched. This installment was announced at the Ubisoft E3 conference on 4 June 2012 and was the first installment to be released on the Wii U.

They are highlighted in blue when a male is singing and pink when a female is singing, in a similar fashion to the first two games of the Japanese Just Dance series. After the routine ends and the scores are shown, in the bottom left corner, if a megaphone and a star appear, it means the player received bonus points for the Shout Out lines. Another Xbox 360 exclusive mode is named Dance Off, and it looks similar to Just Create; at some points, the game asks you to dance freely to a certain point of the song, and then it replays it. Just Dance 3 was the first game to include an Extreme routine, a Sweat routine, a Hold My Hand routine, and Mashups.

Just Dance 3 received positive reviews from critics and is the best-selling third-party Wii game of all-time, with sales of 9. Just Dance 3 marks the first Just Dance game to use Ubisoft’s reward system, Uplay, which was later known as Ubisoft Club, then later merged with the Uplay PC client to be known as Ubisoft Connect. Just Dance is better at getting people and dancing than anything since alcohol, and my friends at least aren’t serious enough dancers to get twitchy about the scoring system. There’s no way any of this stuff would make its way onto my iPod, as I’m tediously earnest in my musical taste, but it’s still fun to dance to. When words are censored in the lyrics, they are not replaced by ellipses in-game, unless the song is a downloadable track that debuted in a previous game.
