About this deal

For 29-year-old Nina, it’s time to pursue her dream of opening a small bookshop. After all, since no one reads anymore, the library system is practically throwing away its books, and no will mind if Nina rescues them like orphans and finds them new homes. Certainly her roommate, the beautiful Surinder, will be pleased to rid their apartment of the architecture-imperiling weight of piles of novels. But real estate is expensive, so Nina decides to buy a van and travel around in a mobile bookstore. She locates the perfect vehicle in Kirrinfief, Scotland, where her real adventures begin. Soon enough, she’s relocated to the Highlands, and her life is newly populated with delightfully quirky characters, including Marek, a Latvian train engineer and romantic hero, who begins exchanging love letters and books of poetry with Nina on a tree at a railway crossing; Ainslee, a mercurial teenage girl eager for a job yet wary of revealing anything about her home life; and Lennox, Nina’s grumpy landlord, who’s separated from his posh wife and who increasingly occupies Nina’s thoughts. Amid the gorgeous scenery of Scotland, Nina sets out to find the right book for everyone in her new town. With a keen eye for the cinematic, Colgan ( Summer at Little Beach Street Bakery, 2016, etc.) is a deft mistress of romantic comedy; Nina’s story is laced with clever dialogue and scenes set like jewels, just begging to be filmed. This passage will tell you who Nina is. A desperate woman, who can't get anything right, not even driving a van. Every time she gets in she gets in trouble. Change was so alien to me, it was almost another language. I was a staunch fan of the 'if it's not broke - don't fix it' mentality." ~ Sarah Determined to make a new life for herself, Nina moves to a sleepy village many miles away. There she buys a van and transforms it into a bookmobile—a mobile bookshop that she drives from neighborhood to neighborhood, changing one life after another with the power of storytelling. I was given an copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review which I am more than happy to give.

Just do something. You might make a mistake, then you can fix it. But if you do nothing, you can't fix anything. And your life might turn out full of regrets.” Oh, and Nina ends up getting a new copy of the rare and priceless book the ex destroyed. And she loses the apartment but her best friend moves into it. So absolutely nothing is lost or sacrificed unless you count a diseased tree. Nothing whatever mars her happiness ever. Desperate to escape from London, single mother Zoe wants to build a new life for herself and her son Hari. She can barely afford the crammed studio apartment on a busy street where honking horns and shouting football fans keep them awake all night. If she doesn’t find a way out soon, Zoe knows it’s just a matter of time before she has a complete meltdown. On a whim, she answers an ad for a nanny job in the Scottish Highlands, which is about as far away from the urban crush of London as possible. It sounds heavenly! While I took great pleasure in watching Nina tirelessly spread the gift of books to her isolated community, the story evolves into something more, proving that people can work together to resolve problems if only they would try to see things from a perspective other than their own.

Need Help?

Or at least it was. Until yesterday, she was a librarian in the hectic city. But now the job she loved is no more. It was an enjoyable read up until the ending. I felt like I was dropped off the side of a building. The ending is fairly predictable, but that isn’t a problem. That’s what you read these types of books for. You start on the journey, pretty sure where you’re going to end up, but enjoying the ride along the way. And that’s OK. It’s great that she decided to share her passion on a blog, I mean who can understand that better than a book blogger. Single mother Zoe is desperately struggling to make ends meet in London. Her 4-year-old son Hari is perfect, except for the fact he doesn’t speak – at all. When Zoe’s landlord raises the rent on her dismal studio flat, she realises she has nowhere to turn.

The descriptive work of Rebecca Raisin really puts you in the life and heart of Ashford and Sarah. The way Sarah speaks of books, it was so captivating. This is a book that I think all booklovers will relate to. Well, this book was supposed to be about a bookshop on the shore. Very little time is spent in the bookshop, and I have no idea what the shore has to do with this book. Ashford, like Rebecca’s previous Gingerbread Café books, is the setting in The Bookshop on the Corner and love the whole area. Friendship and fun is what that town is all about and Rebecca’s stunning writing makes it my dream location to live in. I honestly don’t think I’ve read any author build up settings like we get in the Gingerbread Café series. It’s beautiful and really takes you on a journey into a place you just don’t want to leave. Nina Redmond is 29 years old. The library where she works is to be closed, like so many, and Nina finds herself facing a bleak future in Birmingham where she lives. The library services are to be compressed into the centre of town where they would become a 'hub' with a 'multimedia experience zone'. Ugh! Not for Nina who is caught looking at adverts for large vans for sale, by her friend Griffin. A mobile bookshop? Why the hell not? There are thousands of books available as the library is closing. The snag though is that the van that really catches Nina's eye is in Scotland... You can find my review of The Bookshop On The Corner as well as many others over at http://beccasbooooks.blogspot.co.uk/It took me a while to get into this book and then it seemed to go on too long at times. I skimmed a bit. Because this book is about reading and books, and how these things can change your life, always, I would argue, for the better.... The 2018 PopSugar Reading Challenge - A book that involves a library or bookstore For him everything was about her and he went for it. Can I have a guy like this please? BOOK BOYFRIEND
