About this deal

I’m not going to be as exhaustive as I was with the CX-300II (I could do it later if you like), but I’ll just sum up that I get more pleasure from music, without any of the discomfort of the Sennheisers. While this doesn't mean anything significant, we do get images of these two headphones teaming up against ambient noise like some crime fighting duo. The SE420s have a much more even tracking, but again, there aren't huge leaps between the two performances. If you've ever heard someone's music when they had headphones on, those headphones had horrible leakage control.

The CX 95s' 'bent' design caused the cord to fall straight down, when it should naturally fall down and away. The Sennheiser CX 300-IIs are an average-looking set of in-ears: buds on one end, plug on the other, not much in-between. This is partially because they create a good seal with the ear and partially because they're small and right next to your ear drum, so they don't have to be very loud. If you don't feel like putting on full sized headphones, these have good enough quality for any casual usage.

The 1/8 plug is 90 degrees, but sticks out rather far and doesn’t have a strain relief which is a poor design. I can’t tell you how many times I tried different ear-adapters, but I still hear every movement of my face. It screws in, it screws out; it has just enough torque for most jobs, and it's compact, convenient and comfortable to use. Again, all we're looking for are points where one channel, be it left or right, is playing back at a higher volume.

Keep a close eye on battery life with the 3-LED battery indicator for a detailed look at remaining work time. If you wish to make a complaint or contact us, you can use the address above, or follow our complaints procedure. Leakage is an issue if you're leaving your house, because no one wants to hear your breakbeat version of Scarborough Fair. Heading towards the tail-end of the year, sometimes I can’t help but spoil myself with a few presents (to myself, of course).I bought these looking for a replacement to an older pair of in-ear's, and happened to stumble upon these. There were a few times where we forgot we were wearing them and there were a few times we were somewhat uncomfortably aware. There’s the dinner in which Chan must keep his girlfriend in the dark about others in the home, and a manic boat date that ends in sensational fisticuffs. The Senns on the other hand are a bit boomy in the lower bass from 20 to 200 Hz but transition well into the midrange. The IXO comes with a broad assortment of helpful attachments for a wide variety of jobs in and around the house for a more comfortable screwdriving process as well as many more that open up a new world of applications.

We apologize for any inconvenience we caused when we totally forgot to take HATS photos of the Shure SE420s.Gain full control over all DIY screw driving tasks with infinitely variable speed control to perfectly match the pace of each and every job.

Hopefully it's a close enough likeness for you to get an idea of what your own head might look like with the CX 300-IIs in it. Regarding noise reduction, it does reduce A LOT of ambient noise (too much IMHO), but as it creates all the other mechanical noises, that’s not a great thing. If you value isolation, it's worth the extra investment, but otherwise we'd recommend the CX 300-IIs. I lived all the audiophile fever in the late 80’s and 90’s, had many equipments and tested all the gear that I could, from entry-level to high-end. When I connected to my iPod (filled with LAME encodes), I heard a sound that wasn’t better than the ones that are supplied with it.Part of the upside of having thinner sleeves is less pressure being exerted on the insides of your ears. Part of the problem with in-ears is that, if they aren't positioned perfectly, you end up losing quality or throwing off volume in some manner or another. Also, note the relative sizes of the big humps in each graph: the Turbines block out more sound in this area overall. Anything above an 8 or 9 here is excellent; anything close to or above a 10 will be redundant to the average consumer. Like our frequency response test above, we record the playback as it comes out of the headphones, then compare it back to the original.
