Needless to say, I have been waiting with great anticipation for Harkaway’s second novel and I’m happy to say that it has been a worthwhile almost-four-year wait.while i was reading this, i was engaged, attentive, thought the content was interesting and was very much looking forward to discovering how everyone was connected. It takes a similar form: the two time streams, one present day (or as near as damn it), the other Edie’s story of her time as a much younger woman working for Science 2. What follows is an unbearably long description of said toe which is, if you care to know: pale and round and the perfect size to be sucked. The author does mention in his acknowledgment that he had to oversimplify things a bit to make them feel more entertaining.

I found myself screaming with delight to discover a copy of The Angel Maker in my mailbox and I had to immediately begin reading it. I felt bad for Chris but could not connect with him without there being more chapters dedicated to his pov. The narrative jumps to Edie, an elderly lady of suspicious skill sets, who earlier had Joe repairing various mechanical oddities. The hero was so non-descript that every reader could easily identify with him, whereas all the secondary characters were mere caricatures. I wouldn't classify this one as a typical thriller per se but more as a crime/detective novel with thriller and horror elements tied in.It even feels a bit Gothic in places reinforced by the appearance and atmosphere of the half burnt house. His investigation steers him to two cold cases - the attack on Chris Shaw and a serial killer who could see the future. They are of themselves,' Ari says, clutching this morning's consignment of organic milk, some of which is leaking through the plastic, 'an opportunity for self-education.
