About this deal

The old clock or jukebox, works again, and plays a familiar tune, transporting the owner to a place at a particular time in their life. I was glad to read this series and I thoroughly enjoyed it as it's well told and the characters are fleshed out. I wonder how many found an item, hidden away, broken, damaged or not working, they could not bring themselves to take to the tip. I love books that evoke a strong reaction in me to their characters and Emma does such a brilliant job of bringing Ellie, Will, Finn and the whole cast to life.

The beauty of putting light into a ceramic form is that it can be an interesting piece on its own, while providing a unique accent light at the same time. a massive amount of time passes while in the book and even though there are large chunks of time missing from being explained or delved into, it wasn't a bad thing. Ellie is immensely likeable, Will is immensely gorgeous-sounding and I couldn’t help but fall a little bit in love with him, as I also did with Finn.

As you say, there can be beauty in the cracks in our lives and self-acceptance helps us find what happiness we can; Leonard Cohen is a favourite singer of mine. By about 60% in, and all the way to the end, I was very tempted to give up on this book as it started to feel predictable, and although things happened, the meant-to-be-dramatic things didn't feel that interesting or dramatic (to me at least).

But an explosive encounter between Benedict and Pascal forces old secrets into the light, causing rifts in the happiness and security of the community. As ever, Philip, you have a developed knack for stating things in clear terms, for saying what should be said.

I cope with having Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis since 1/93 by being thankful for the things I can still do. Living with a disability; caring for someone who cannot live independently; bringing up a disabled child – the Advice Centre has information on benefits, legislation, keeping warm and well, fall prevention, generally coping with being a carer. What emerges through the testing of faith is that most ancient of healing truths: darkness and pain open the way to hope and healing . Now to put the icing o the cake how this author was able to present the 'secrets and revelations' that will come out from this read was very well done. However, there is a very serious element which isn't revealed until after halfway through and then it does get a little darker.
