That said I continue to use adapters, but only where I am deliberately incorporating a different type of gas canister into my cookset from the outset. This does not get a great deal of use from me and I suspect the reliance on plastic parts may result in a failure one day. These are aftermarket adapters being discussed and quality will obviously vary across what is available. It seems that MercatorGear is only into small size backpacker canisters, I am interested in the heavy duty Campingaz R901/R904/R907 canisters.

Problem is that I do not have the fitting to empty them and I am apprehensive about puncturing them. If so then there are proba ly a variety of connectors available for bottled gas rather than canisters. From the amount of comments on this article though, it seems as if there might be a market for them!There are moving parts, which are mostly plastic and I suspect would break if subjected to too much torque when tightening. I didn’t realize there would be an issue until after I received the setup, so I’ve spent an ungodly amount of time figuring out how to get around this situation.

Even fewer knew that there are several dual fuel stoves and handy little adaptors you can get for your camping stove that will allow it to use any type of gas.
