About this deal

Each of the characters are wonderfully part of the story - each with their own addition to Arthur’s and Teddy’s lives. His habit of putting himself down and avoiding taking risks is one so many readers will recognise and it’s his development over the course of the story that is so engaging.

His story had me crying through most of this book, from being so brave for coming out after 50 years of marriage, to why they did marry, wow.Umso schöner ist es, davon zu lesen, wie Arthur und Teddy sich gegenseitig unterstützen und für einander die Bezugsperson werden, die ihnen bis dahin gefehlt hat. Similarly, with a lot going on in the plot and the need for everything to feel resolved due to the necessary happy ending of the genre, the ending is quite rushed and a lot of things suddenly happen with time jumps that don't quite feel fully realised. Before I start my review I just want to say how happy I am about the Note to Readers at the start of the book that highlights all the accessibility features that this ebook has if needed, I really appreciate things like this as my daughter has dyslexia and she needs a green background to be able to read anything, thank you. Look at the little grandpa in his pink shirt and bowtie and he's bonding with his grandson over coming out as gay! Don’t miss brilliant fiction every week in the pages of My Weekly, plus reviews of the best new fiction book releases.

If you spend your whole time never listening to how your boyfriend’s feelings were hurt by your best friend’s behaviour, is it any surprise you break up? I loved that it wasn't all mushy and fake - the romance plot is full of lovely moments but also packed with angst, and I enjoyed how things ended up.The dialogue didn’t seem natural and was somewhat cringey, and the character’s reactions were too OTT. At the grand age of 79, after a lifetime of loving the woman he married, a woman he still loves and has support from, Arthur gathers his family to announce he’s gay.

In Arthur and Teddy are Coming Out we learn that life is made of these quiet, ordinary moments just as much as the dramatic occasions. Arthur especially stole my heart, and I really related to the strong grandfather/grandchild bond between him and Teddy - it’s a relationship that just doesn’t get enough focus and which was probably the most important in my life so I’m grateful to see that reflected here. Arthur's story is intensely feelgood in a Matt Cain sort of way, with an octogenarian embracing who he is and getting over the traumas of a lifetime of homophobia. It tells the story of a grandfather and grandson both grappling with the coming out process and the prejudices that still exist in our society. The long-awaited second instalment in Samantha Shannon's Sunday Times and New York Times-bestselling series Tunuva Melim is a sister of the Priory.

Too often, queer literature is enjoyed only by the LGBT+ community, but this is a novel ready to be loved by the masses. Deshalb würde ich das Buch übrigens auch allen Menschen empfehlen, die sich nicht als queer identifizieren, aber sich vielleicht mehr damit beschäftigen möchten, wie das Leben als queere Person unter anderem aussehen kann. And because all that obviously leaves so much free time, she also cooks and bakes and generally 'keeps them fed'. The ending was extremely rushed, and Teddy’s romance was so cheesy and predictable that I actually found it off-putting rather than romantic. Arthur is glad that his only grandson won’t be deterred from visiting, despite Lizzie’s edict, and when Teddy reveals his own preferences, their bond is strengthened. This is a used book - there is no escaping the fact it has been read by someone else and it will show signs of wear and previous use. excellently well thought out family and friendship dynamics and a bit of a subversion of expectations when it comes to happy endings. Teddy will feel really familiar to a lot of young gay people I think, with his struggles to come out highlighting how hard it can still be even now. Big thank you to Harlequin for sending me an advanced copy of this book, it has been nothing short of a joy to read this. Two people at very different stages of their lives deciding to come out of the closet and live their authentic lives despite all their fears and insecurities sounded captivating.
