About this deal

The other side of the scrollwheel, as Logitech tells us, is that the company's associated pro gamers liked the G Pro's "bunny hopping" feel for which the mechanical wheel is credited. The original non-HERO version is a wired mouse and has a CPI range of 200 - 12000, though we haven't tested it. The Logitech G403 and its wireless companion are both under review today, as is the accompanying G Pro mouse.

It also has better quality mouse feet, a higher maximum CPI, a more consistent sensor, and a lower minimum lift-off distance. There weren't any issues present during testing, but many users online have reported problems with Logitech's G HUB software, including but not limited to startup issues, freezing, and connection issues with certain devices. Previous fan favorites from Logitech, like the MX518 and G5, used contouring and texturing that almost seemed magnetic to dead skin and other nastiness accumulated over a period of long-term use. We prefer the scroll wheel on the G403 to Zowie's, but you may prefer the shape of the Zowie mice -- that's more subjective.

The Logitech has a more flexible cable, smoother-gliding mouse feet, a much wider CPI range, and a lower lift-off distance. On the other hand, the G502 has more buttons and programmable inputs, and the scroll wheel has a free-scrolling mode and L/R tilt inputs.

The Razer is smaller and significantly lighter, making it a fantastic choice for ultra-light gaming. The SteelSeries has more programmable inputs, as it's an ambidextrous mouse with thumb buttons on both sides. We've added a small disclaimer to the Compatible Software Option section which highlights some of the most commonly reported issues users online have encountered with Logitech's G HUB companion software. That said, it has a better sensor with a wider CPI range, almost no CPI variation, and a lower lift-off distance. The Logitech G403 HERO is an excellent FPS gaming mouse, while the HyperX Pulsefire Raid is a good, versatile gaming mouse. On the other hand, the Mad Catz is marginally lighter and has several modular pieces, including side panels with a thumb and pinky rest. Comparatively, the HyperX has three additional side buttons and a scroll wheel with L/R tilt buttons. The G403 wireless uses the same architecture as the G900 Chaos Spectrum mouse that we praised on grounds of its wireless functionality and low input latency. On the contrary, the Logitech may not be ideal for people with smaller hands using a claw or a fingertip grip.

Exceptionally precise and consistent, it gives you the confidence of quicker responses and more accurate targeting.G403 also features advanced metal-spring button tensioning, keeping the primary left and right mouse buttons poised to trigger with less force. Designed with a constant connection in mind, the dual-band 4G LTE and 3G support allows automatic 3G connection if the 4G LTE signal strength becomes low, whereas the additional Ethernet WAN option gives fail-safe connectivity if either your fixed line or mobile broadband fails. However, its mediocre scroll wheel makes it less ideal for office use, and some MMO players may be disappointed by the number of buttons available. The Logitech G403 HERO and the Razer DeathAdder Essential are both right-handed wired gaming mice, but the Logitech performs better overall.

For more options, check out our recommendations for the best FPS mouse, the best gaming mouse, and the best wired mice. With rubber grips on the left and right sides to give you added control, the G403 was made to mold to your hand for long-lasting comfort during gameplay.

Network conditions and environmental factors, including volume of network traffic, building materials and construction, and network overhead, may lower actual data throughput rate. So if you're looking for a larger mouse, and aren't completely on-board the "ultra-lightweight" train, I definitely think the G403 is a good choice. As for other buttons, the DPI switches on the G403 and G Pro put us off with their glossy finish, as do the thumb buttons, but this is something that can be ignored pretty easily once used to the mice.
