You guys know that I like stories which, um, make sense. So a storytelling mechanism designed to not make sense will almost always put me in a bad mood. But there are different ways to tell stories. Not everything has to have that perfect beginning, middle, and end. So you gotta be open to that, especially if you want to learn and grow as a storyteller. However, I will say this: if you’re not going to follow the traditional way of telling a story, you better be a freaking genius, and the story you’re telling better be amazing. You better wow us in ways that we’ve never been wowed. Because if there’s no direction or payoff to your script, all that’s left are the strange trappings of your mind. And we don’t want to be trapped in there with you if it’s just a bunch of bullshit.

Anger over left-leaning O'Sullivan". The Independent. London. 21 April 1996. Archived from the original on 20 September 2017 . Retrieved 19 September 2017. He won consecutive Masters in 2016 and 2017 for a record seven Masters titles. He won consecutive UK Championships in 2017 and 2018 for a record seven UK titles and a total of 19 titles in the Triple Crown Series, surpassing Hendry's total of 18. During the 2017–18 season, he won five ranking events. [32] In the last frame of the 2019 Players Championship final, he made his 1,000th century break in professional competition, becoming the first player to reach that milestone. [33] At the 2019 Tour Championship, he won his 36th ranking title, equalling Hendry's record and attaining the world number one ranking for the first time since May 2010. [34] Polyamory: Dan, Bob, and Deborah are in a threesome, with Deborah taking turns making love to each man. As the story progresses, it becomes surprisingly wholesome, considering who wrote the script. Players Tour Championship Event One (2011)". Snooker.org. Archived from the original on 10 July 2011 . And then suddenly the woodcutters arrive and they take the man who we think has witnessed these events, and their ship is... uh, silver, like a 30`s kind of ship, and the fuel is logs. And they smoke pipes." But that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s any good at it. He’s not bad at all, he’s written recipes that have been published in The Times and his cookery book ‘Top of Your Game’, was published in 2019 to critical acclaim. But there’s something unique about Ronnie’s style of cooking too. He is known for his perfectionism and for being highly self-critical, [101] [102] even in victory. [103] [104] Early in his career, he was treated for drug-related issues and bouts of depression. [105] Since 2011, psychiatrist and sports psychologist Steve Peters, a close friend, [106] [107] has helped him overcome his mood swings. [88] [108] He is also a close friend of artist Damien Hirst. [109] Noted for repeatedly declaring his intention to retire, [110] O'Sullivan took an extended break from the professional snooker tour during the 2012–13 season, during which he worked on a pig farm for several weeks. [111] He enjoys running, [112] and has achieved a personal best of 34 minutes and 54 seconds for 10km races, which ranked him in the top 1,500 10km runners in the UK in 2008. [113] He enjoys cooking, [114] and appeared on the BBC's Saturday Kitchen in December 2014 and February 2021. [115] He also enjoys motor racing, and has appeared on season 4 of Top Gear. [116] [117] He is a supporter of Arsenal FC. [118]

O'Sullivan has three children: a daughter (born 1996) from a two-year relationship with Sally Magnus, [94] as well as a son and a daughter from a relationship with Jo Langley, whom he met at Narcotics Anonymous. [95] [96] He became a grandfather in October 2018 after Taylor-Ann gave birth to a daughter. [97] He began dating actress Laila Rouass in 2012, and became engaged to her in 2013. [98] Rouass announced on social media in February 2022 that they had ended their ten-year relationship, [99] but the couple later reconciled. Goddess revolved around the last few months in the life of Marilyn Monroe, though the character's name is changed to Rosilyn Ramsay for legal reasons. The story made the claim that Bobby Kennedy (changed to Phillip Malloy, again for legal reasons) killed Marilyn. Once the producers heard that, they dropped the project. Coral UK Championship (2014)". Snooker.org. Archived from the original on 7 December 2014 . Retrieved 7 December 2014. Traditionally, characters have to have motivations for doing things. And those things must be clear to the audience. That’s one of the first rules of storytelling. You can, of course, HIDE the motivation in some cases, treating it as a mystery to be revealed to the audience later, but that’s one of the riskiest things to do in screenwriting (in my opinion). If a reader doesn’t know why his main character is doing all the things he’s doing, he’s eventually going to get frustrated with him. Then again, I’m sure this is the last thing Lynch cares about. I’m betting he never sits down and says, “Hmmm, why is my character doing this?” If it pops up in his head, that’s motivation enough. Darkest Hour: During the confrontation against Hank, the entire party except for the Detective lose their senses to the reverse electricity and are unable to put their plan into action, and the Detective can no longer stand on one leg, meaning he’s losing himself, too. Meanwhile, Ronnie has collapsed on stage from his injuries, with the audience none the wiser and no one around to help him.
