If you are taking any other medicines, especially Ritonavir (used to treat HIV), Quinidine (used to treat abnormal heart rhythms or malaria), Oral desmopressin (used to treat excess urination), Itraconazole or ketoconazole (used to treat fungal infections), or Gemfibrozil (used to treat high cholesterol), you should inform your doctor or pharmacist.

Product description Galpharm Anti-Diarrhoea Instants 2mg Orodispersible Tablets contain Loperamide Hydrochloride which is an antidiarrheal medicine which helps to stop diarrhoea by making the stools more solid and less frequent.Please note that these tablets relieve the symptoms of diarrhoea and should not be used as a substitute for rehydration treatment. Speak to your doctor if your diarrhoea is very severe and you take metformin for diabetes, or medicines for high blood pressure or heart failure.

If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, or are breastfeeding, you should ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Adults, the elderly and children over 12 years: 2 capsules to be taken initially, followed by 1 capsule after each loose motion, up to a maximum of 6 capsules in any 24 hours. Serious heart problems have been reported in patients who have taken too much loperamide, the active ingredient in this medicine. To help balance the fluid and salt levels in your body to the right levels your pharmacist may recommend that you also take a “rehydration treatment” if you have diarrhoea, especially if you are elderly.
