About this deal

I love classic mysteries--the closest modern equivalent is the cozy-- and especially enjoy those with a British setting so I had high hopes for this one. They have been portrayed as quite old even though age wise they are not so, but I did enjoy them and their cozy life.

Margery and Clementine have settled well into middle-age, in a comfortable house in a pleasant town, with nice jobs at the local school working as dinner ladies, serving up chips and fizzy drinks to hungry students. With school out for the summer, Margery and Clementine Butcher-Baker are taking advantage of the break to go on holiday. Bringing their own unique and counter-balanced personalities to proceedings they ask questions such as: what is happiness? Maybe because of the comparison of a crime happening and some neighborhood going between Dewstow and London has many different in some department (?A charming and festive British village mystery, perfect for fans of Robert Thorogood and Fiona Leitch. They are partners, and sleuthing partners end up being their second “day job” as they attempt to get to the bottom of, what they feel, is a mysterious death of their less than perfect coworker, Caroline. New and familiar characters abound, voiced by a bright mix of performers, including Kat Dennings, Regé-Jean Page, Emma Corrin, Michael Sheen, Kristen Schaal, Brian Cox, John Lithgow, Jeffrey Wright, and so many more, including fan-favorite narrators Simon Vance and Ray Porter. This is, in my humble opinion, a very successful debut and definitely a series that I am looking forward to keeping up with. The ladies interest in piqued and, when they manage to sneak into the freezer, they find a crime scene, rather than the scene of an accident. Being with your partner may feel like rainbows and unicorns, but that doesn't mean you have a healthy, functioning relationship. There are some very funny moments (the suspended school ceiling being a particular highlight for me 🤣🤣) amongst a great and engaging plot with excellent characters throughout. While it's a bit of a cozy "feature" that the victim be unpleasant, I found most of the other characters to be either inept, silly, surly, or stupid. Random House presents the audiobook edition of Ikigai by Héctor García and Francesc Miralles, read by Noako Mori.

The pair are determined to stay out of the way of the Christmas concert planning that has gripped the rest of the staff. Registered office address: Unit 34 Vulcan House Business Centre, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EF. My final note is the use of "Clem" when talking to Clementine, I understand it is a shortened version, but given the definition of Clem, it wasn't pleasant to read a lot.At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills. NetGalley review 'The characters are beautifully written and I came to love them within the first few pages and was rooting for them all the way to the end. The police are convinced it’s an open-and-shut case of accidental death, which seems a bit odd given the scratches in the ice on the freezer door and the blood on the floor.
