About this deal

G-SYNC Compatible, delivering a seamless, tear-free gaming experience by enabling VRR (variable refresh rate) by default. Common gaming enhancements such as on-screen crosshairs, timers and shadow boost are all present and accounted for, and Asus will also be offering a Windows-based 'DisplayWidget Lite' software utility to change settings from within the OS.

However, its not worth the extra cost if you already have the VG27AQ which is still a great gaming display by today’s standards. The latter isn’t particularly bad for IPS panels, but other IPS models have easily breached the 1100:1 and 1200:1 mark. Presentation is clean - note the lack of RGB lights - navigation is well handled by a rear joystick and four tactile buttons that are all easy to reach, and this is one of the better control systems we've used.

Thanks to integrated IPS technology, it provides superior imagery with outstanding color across 130% of the sRGB gamut, an astounding 1,000:1 contrast ratio, and 178° viewing angles with minimal distortion and color shift. Asus never failed our expectations when it comes to build quality since the Asus VG27AQL1A is just as well made as its other products. TUF Gaming VG27AQL1A is a 27-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) HDR IPS display with an ultrafast 170Hz* refresh rate.

ASUS Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync (ELMB SYNC) technology enables ELMB together with G-SYNC Compatible, eliminating ghosting and tearing for sharp gaming visuals with high frame rates. The Asus VG27AQL1A boasts a 27-inch IPS panel with a 2560 x 1440 resolution, a 170Hz maximum refresh rate, and a boosted 1ms MPRT response time. ASUS GameVisual Technology has seven pre-set display modes to optimise visuals for different types of content. The QHD (2560 x 1440) panel in TUF Gaming VG27AQL1A delivers up to 77% more onscreen desktop space than standard Full HD (1920 x 1080) displays. The monitor has a matte black chassis that is easy to maintain with a look that is still strictly Asus.

The monitor almost keeps up with most TN panels with moderate overdrive settings, but you still get a lot of headroom with the ELMB feature. Thanks to integrated IPS technology, it provides superior imagery with outstanding colour across 130% of the sRGB gamut, an astounding 1,000:1 contrast ratio, and 178° viewing angles with minimal distortion and colour shift. Let’s check out if the Asus VG27AQL1A is a worthy upgrade to its predecessor or if it is the next best QHD monitor you need to step up your gaming experience. Its footprint is still within reasonable limits, but it now has a boomerang shape instead of the squarish one on the VG27AQ. Enhances the colour of your opponents' health/mana bars, so that you can simultaneously respond and be the first to destroy the opposing team's main.

As expected, this remains a 27in IPS solution with a popular 2,560x1,440 QHD resolution, but with a little fine-tuning Asus has managed to increase brightness from 350 to 400-nits - crucial for achieving HDR400 certification - while sRGB colour coverage has moved from 99 per cent to 130 per cent. High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology with professional color gamut delivers contrast and color performance that meets the DisplayHDR™ 400 certification. The Asus VG27AQL1A offers tangible upgrades over its predecessor which makes it the superior choice for an easy-to-digest additional cost. However, take note that this feature doesn’t work well with framerates that fall below 120 FPS, so make sure to optimize your graphics settings first for heavier or newer titles. The stand also doesn’t wobble, so even heavy typers won’t get disturbed during a heated session of document processing or intense gaming.

Turning it on reduces the brightness of the monitor by around 15% to 20%, but it doesn’t lock out FreeSync or G-Sync compatibility. the monitor is almost exactly on the 6500K point, so the screen looks balanced even when viewing white backgrounds.
