About this deal
Matthias totally not a walking stereotype yeah yeah la-di-dah. Broody type, doesn’t laugh at jokes, ken-doll hair albeit a little longer, outstandingly handsome, has abs. Let's start with characters. All of them are in their teen which makes little sense. They don't behave like teens (mostly) nor does their age fit the story. All things considered this book was amazing and beautifully written! It’s a piece of art that kept me captivated from the beginning to the very end and I think throughout this journey I actually became a part of the crew! TL;DR: I was never bored by this book, and I love the characters more than my own life. Highly recommended. Jesper is witty and an absolute delight to get a POV chapter from, but he's also incredibly sympathetic as a former farm boy who fell from grace. He likes living on the edge, and he's aware of the pain his own actions have caused him, and he's trying to work through it.
nina zenik. my queen, i love her x1000000. 🥺 i wasn’t expecting to resonate with her that much and understand her, but i truly did. she was so snarky and feisty and brave, while at the same time having such a soft and vulnerable side for her friends. i wanna be at the receiving end of her love because the way she loves is just so 🥹🥹 every scene she came, i was just cheering her on. her banter and snark and energy are just unmatchable. matthias helvar. the way he has this threatening, honorable, brooding thing going on that we all love 😌 but inside is just such a cinnamon roll? i’m so in love with him i will protect him with my LIFE if need be. i loved the way he overcame his prejudice against the grisha so realistically because if there’s one thing i love to see, it’s true development like that. the growth he showed with that is everything. there were so many moments he made me mad but i got his pov because it was so understandable. he’d been raised a certain way and he couldn’t just change that in one go — as much as i’d like for him to. “yellow tulip” still has me gasping ngl i love him sm. You might think you know what coming, BUT YOU WILL BE WRONG! So many well planned out plot twist. So many ground shaking moments. So many heart crushing scenes. And that ending!!!! YOU CAN'T DO THAT TO PEOPLE!!! You can't leave us hanging like this!!!! OMG and I didn't even get to mention the romance!!!! I want to talk about it. Oh goodness do I want to talk about it! But I wont, and if you've ever read any of my review you know this is unheard of. I love love and not wanting to talk about it must only mean one thing... That it's really really good! Even with the massive amount to sexual tense and stolen glances it still doesn't even overshadow the plot. I'm not just talking about the romance with a certain pair, I'm talking romance among several. Like I can't even believe how much gooey lovey dovey moments she gives us and yet didn't drown us in it. Perfect just perfect.Jesper and Wylan are just cute for most of the book. They got some cute relationship build, but I wasn't that invested. And then that One Line at the end of the book shows up and they KILLED me. Really, Bardugo? You could've left me heart intact instead, but?? not so much. Also, side note, but I don't understand how anyone was surprised they're a thing in book two. I know heteronormativity is a thing that exists, but how can you read "not just girls" and mutual blushing in a heterosexual way? huh the plot follows Kaz who has to steal not money but a man from some Court and he recruits five people and they agree to this heist 'cause paisa hi paisa hoga When I first read about “Six of Crows” I thought that it would be a fun read. You know one of those books that are easy to read and make you laugh. I expected to read a story that was able to enthral me. A story I would enjoy and classify as intriguing. and maybe i will just be me in this one, but i thought this was fantastic and after a bit of a slow and slightly confusing open, it turned into one of the most fun reading experiences i have had in a while. i LOVE heist stories, and this one is a particularly satisfying contribution to the genre. it takes place in the same world as the grisha series, but instead of a magical version of russia, this one opens in a similarly transformed version of holland, in a city called ketterdam.
jesper fahey. the way he had so much hidden depth, masking his true feelings with banter and humor and sarcasm and wit? i — that hit far too close to home, and that’s probably why i kinda get him. he’s one of those characters no one can help loving. but he also loves shooting at his enemies, so he isn’t just a character who’d lighten the mood, he’s one of those who’d kill people for you if you were his friend and that type of loyalty is something else. i wanna be friends with him 👉👈He needed to tell her… what? That she was lovely and brave and better than anything he deserved. That he was twisted, crooked, wrong, but not so broken that he couldn’t pull himself together into some semblance of a man for her. That without meaning to, he’d begun to lean on her, to look for her, to need her near. A gambler, a convict, a wayward son, a lost Grisha, a Suli girl who had become a killer, a boy from the Barrel who had become something worse.” A gambler, a convict, a wayward son, a lost Grisha, a Suli girl who had become a killer, a boy from the Barrel who had become something worse. Inspired by myth, fairy tale, and folklore, #1New York Times-bestselling author Leigh Bardugo has crafted a deliciously atmospheric collection of illustrated stories filled with betrayals, revenge, sacrifice, and love. Crooked Kingdom
Matthias and Nina were honestly not that big a ship for me here. I absolutely understand what's appealing about their dynamic; they're sweet and have amazing relationship development. But they don't appeal to me personally; I don't have to lie down for twenty minutes when I read their scenes. Inej is a spooky lil sneaky gal who climbs around stuff and is the single most powerful creature in all of fictional humankind. Also Inej is just a cool name. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK AND ITS WORLDBUILDING IS COOL. I am a loyal fan of the GrishaVerse books, and the main reason why is because of how Bardugo does her worldbuilding. She takes inspiration from real countries and places from around the world, which is one of the reasons the world she's built feels so real! She describes the surroundings of the characters so beautifully. I can easily picture myself on the streets of Ketterdam or in the Ice Court.Precious Wylan is dragged into the Dregs and it's the cutest thing ever. He's from a respected, although rather horrible, family... and this new criminal life takes a while to adjust to. He's also a whiz with chemicals. the suspense in this? the thrill i got from each and every single reveal? the tension i had in the second half? unmatched. i was so scared for all of their lives. i was wondering which would be the moment they’d get caught; they’d be sent to prison; they’d be killed. but the six crows were always one step ahead and i should’ve had more faith in them, probably. 😌 the world building was so beautifully done — there wasn’t any info-dump moment, because everything is delivered to us few details at a time and it’s so rich and intricate. i loved the way kaz, inej, nina, matthias, jesper and wylan overcame all the odds and became more and more dangerous and showed their hidden sides as the heist became tougher. i absolutely adore the creativity of this entire book and i’m in awe. OK I have feelings about this boy. He is the most anti-hero of all the characters and yet I still love him to pieces.... I love his viciousness and his cane and his cunning schemes. Bardugo make him worthy of some sympathy and even a bit of admiration. A gambler, a convict, a wayward son, a lost Grisha, a Suli girl who has become a killer, a boy from the Barrel who had become something worse." The ship listed gently. The lanterns swayed. His eyes were blue fire. “Everything,” he said, as he turned to go. “Everything.”
The fate of the world is in the hands of six teenagers, six street rats with no family and no one to look for them. They have to break in an impenetrable fortress, free an important prisoner and try not to kill each other. Each of them has his own goals and ambitions, his own agenda, his own life story full of misery and pain. And everything depends on them. She’d laughed, and if he could have bottled the sound and got drunk on it every night, he would have. It terrified him. BUT ANYWAY this is a five star review and that means I don’t have to complain!!! Who knew!! All new to me. So I took my shot, and bought the books. Started reading, and just couldn't stop. The universe itself is so vast and full of possibilities. I must admit I took my breaks, not because I got bored of the book, but because I idn't have enough energy to read everyday, and I wanted to give the book my full and undivided attention when reading it. Edit update or whatever I watched the Netflix show I'm on episode four and oh my god it's really good. It's really really fun and I can feel my brain leaking out of my ears whenever I see Inej and Kaz interact with each other.I’m going to get Wylan’s ghost to teach my ghost how to play the flute just so that I can annoy the hell out of your ghost.”
