About this deal

When it comes to comfort, the RA-AA0810N19B is comfortable enough, although the rather lightweight stainless steel oyster bracelet weighed against the denser and heavier case can make the watch feel a bit top-heavy. Its 200-meter water resistance rating, day-date display, and luminescent markers make it a highly functional watch suitable for everyday wear and diving. The previous generation Ray II and Mako II models launched in 2016, and they were decent divers that competed with the Seiko SKX line in terms of specs but failed to achieve the same cult-classic status.

If you don't look into it, it can be quite hard to understand why the USA would cost so much more than the regular Mako II. Also, the way in which the bracelet’s endlinks meet the case is done so well to the point where the bracelet becomes an organic expression of the case and vice versa. Premium watches are much more difficult to compare as they don’t have a particular purpose to serve. After years of development Oreint simply uprated a legacy 6000 series Suwa Seiko movement with more jewels, a better balance spring, hacking, hand winding with a quick set date.Since the F6922 is only used in Orient watches, individual movements are not available on the open market. I then looked online but no definitive answer, some say it’s completely fine but others say it’s bad. If you're not convinced, I'd urge you to try and see one of these in the flesh as this version at least is absolutely stunning.

One of the biggest changes from the original Mako to the Mako II is the presence of the quickset button at the 2 o’clock position. These type of markers are usually referred to as “explorer markers” due to the similarity with Rolex Explorer, the watch that popularized this marker design. The dial features large, lumed hour markers and hands that are highly visible in low-light conditions.

The Mako II, in particular, looks quite dated by modern standards, and both models were pretty generic with no eye-catching colors or design cues. Also made of stainless steel, a great alternative would be the Orient Ray II or the Mako XL dive watch. Obviously the original 46943’s modulated day changing button was a functional feature, but it also became an iconic design feature of this affordable diver. When it comes to dive watches, there are plenty of options on the market, ranging from high-end luxury pieces to more affordable, entry-level options. Like the Mako 1, the Mako 2 is available on a silicone strap or a three-piece link stainless steel bracelet.

The stylish and sporty timepiece features a stainless steel case and band, black dial, and screw-down crown to maximize water resistance.By eliminating the gap between the case and the bracelet, the Orient Mako II becomes more comfortable to wear. We are honored to share the passion and precision of Orient Watch's deep historical lineage with the United States and Canada, and invite you to join us on our journey. As a result of this case cloning, any replacement Kamasu bracelets will apparently also fit on the Mako III as well. The slits on the bezel are angled toward the top of the watch, making the bezel hard to grip and turn. At the end of this post, I'll also be comparing this to one of the new Seiko 5 divers and giving it a value rating out of 10, so stick around to see how well it scores.
