About this deal

Like the Famicom in Japan, the lead from the controller comes out at the right-hand side of the unit. Up until now the only way to install the pause button into the controller was to do a messy deadbug install with no real way of making sure the switch hole was positioned well.

This page houses a number of these controllers - when more information is gathered they should be moved to their own individual pages. The controller connects to the system via a DE-9 port, so it is also compatible with various other systems of the day including the Sega Mega Drive. Personally, I have come to love the 2 button-only setup of the Master System, and have gotten quite used to just getting up when I need to pause a game. Much like the Turbografx-16 controller, the Honey Bee lets you set Turbo or Auto fire features without the need of the cumbersome ‘Rapid Fire’ attachment piece that was originally released for the Master System. So here are the 3 controllers, and while they might not look too different in this shot, let’s take a look at each one close up.

The main problem with the original controller is with the D-pad – it’s a flat pad rather than the more traditional ‘cross’ you find on D-pads of other older consoles. We also have a range of Printed Display Stands, these are for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.I didn’t truly appreciate the Master System until I used the Honey Bee – true enjoyment of many of the games hinges on the accuracy a controller like this gives you. If you’ve only played NES and never played a Sega Master System before and the controller has been the sole reason you’ve been put off, maybe now is the time.

If you do indeed own a Sega Master System, then upon first glance you’ll see how much this controller mimics the style. Also, the buttons appear to be the same size, so it probably wouldn’t be too difficult to take an original controller apart and put its buttons into the Honey Bee if I wanted to. I never have to look down at it like a foreign feeling controller to see where buttons are and what they need to do. This will allow for some advance features like using the adapter on an Xbox with special firmware, or up-linking to other future Bliss-Box add-on accessories. For the majority of controllers, very little information about them is currently available to the public. The D-Pad has a hole in the centre which allows for a small "thumbstick" to be inserted (much like Sega's earlier consoles). I also think that if we’re trying to match the look of the original controller, that the red line around the D-Pad should be a bit thinner.

Having a controller that is just the size of an NES controller instead of being large and round like modern day controllers may be easier on your hands.Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive.
