He scored six goals en route to Wembley, including a spectacular 30-yard strike in the semi-final against Arsenal. Sadly, he was stretchered off with ruptured cruciate ligaments just minutes into the final against Nottingham Forest. Spurs went on to win 2-1.

To understand why the game had such an influence, you have to put yourself in the shoes of one of the many people watching football for the first time that evening.
