About this deal

Some of these covers, all faithfully reproduced here, appear almost abstract until you look closely into them, when you find weird hidden imagery floating into or out of focus. If this first Volume is any indication on what to expect from the future ones, then I know I’m in for one hell of a ride. In an afterword to one of the later volumes, Neil Gaiman admits that he began work on the Sandman as a regular gig that would bring in a monthly pay cheque. Usually, absolute editions work best as a new way of collecting an all-time favorite comic for long-time super fans in a nice hardback and oversized glory, but, in the case of absolute Sandman volume one, I think it transcends this purpose.

She was in a coma and had a baby (Rose's mom) and now all these years later has finally awoken because Morpheus is back. I can blaze through them the way I couldn't when I was reading borrowed copies, or I can stop and really look at each panel, and understand how certain things relate to the all-over story. Other credits include Amazing Spider-Man, The Teen Titans, Captain America, Guardians of the Galaxy, Jessica Jones for Netflix, Marvel Agents of S. When I first started reading Sandman, which was after I was introduced to Neil Gaiman through American Gods and Stardust, I had to interlibrary loan each volume, meaning (since I wanted to be able to keep track of them and ensure the loaning library got the books back in a timely fashion) I had to wait at least three weeks between volumes.

The book itself, again graced by Dave McKean designs, is bound in jet black faux leather, stamped with silver lettering and an impressed design of a lock and key. Considered by many, me included, to be the best comic book ever written, Neil Gaiman's now classic mix of Greek myth and modern dark fantasy remains as captivating today as when it was first published. Also included are a new introduction by DC President and Publisher Paul Levitz and an afterword by Gaiman.

Dream is one of the three eldest of the Endless (Death and Destiny being the other two) and as such he is also one of the most powerful. The Sandman , written by New York Times best-selling author Neil Gaiman, was the most acclaimed comic book title of the 1990s.
