Some of the characters were really quite dislikeable or selfish, which only made me lean more towards the one with the moral highground. They each have a valid reason for what they each think should be done with the cash which they suspect may not have been come by honestly.

No character is even slightly funny, it’s all hand-wringing, over-earnestness, and alpha make vs naive ‘new man’. Imogen Clark deftly peels back the layers of loyalty, family secrets, and moral dilemma to examine a family that must make a choice between need, greed, and integrity.

Although this is an intriguing, well-written and enjoyable read, I really didn’t like the characters that much. This is the dilemma facing three siblings, two with controlling partners, who all have different ideas and reasons on what to do with it. I entered the kitchen and poured myself a glass of water, drinking it as I slowly crept up the stairs.
