About this deal

In my test, I drop the flashlight six times onto a concrete sidewalk from the height specified by the manufacturer’s rating. I suppose this could be beneficial for an extended power outage when you need light from sunset to sunrise and then can recharge during the day, so if that is your only intended use for this, the two-cell may just be the way to go. Not sure I like that… but from an engineering perspective I see why, it shortens the torch to have the threading.

Advertising a product as having passed certain criteria when it has not been tested to that standard is a serious problem. Most lights that allow you to charge the battery like this are not submersible because the charging port isn’t sealed. Since the LC90 has a Micro USB charging port, you could always bring a power bank along to keep the flashlight charged (instead of a backup battery cell).

Photographing light at distances in the dark is obviously tricky but here’s a few at different distances. In addition to that I keep one or two large ones in the cars (can be use for more than lighting things up) and a few in the barn. I feel it performs best in wide zoom to flood an area with light, although you do suffer from that dull spot in the middle of the beam. This creates a problem if you are clearing an area and flashing the light on and off – the light literally begins to cycle through the different modes. The on/off switch ensures convenient operation, and the presence of buttons allows for ease of control. From 100% output to less than 9% output – the generally accepted measurement in the industry – the LC90 showed a runtime of 4 hours 17 minutes.
