About this deal

As would be expected the image is notably dimmer but apparent sharpness was still good at the 56x magnification. These "take anywhere" binoculars are ideal travelling companions, especially the compact 8x25 and 10x25 Condor's that are ideal as Safari Binoculars or for activities like hiking. The Pirsch ED Series from German brand Bresser sits just below their flagship Montana range and as the name suggests contain ED glass elements in their lenses as well as an impressive array of other top-end features and components. I guess it just doesn't bother me as much, maybe I am just not sensitive enough as some other people do.

This binocular’s focusing speed is relatively fast at just under 1 full turn and yet I find the focusing tension to be ideal. When placing them side-by-side, the first aspect you notice is that these Bresser Pirsch ED 8x42 binoculars are actually quite a bit shorter than the 56mm option and is actually a little more than what I had expected when scanning over the specifications (I am more of a visual person and often the differences in numbers do not mean a whole lot to me). Positioned just under their flagship Montana series, Pirsch ED binoculars from the German brand Bresser possess an impressive array of components, features, and stats.

I wasn't really sure of what to expect from a <200 euro Bresser binocular since I had some experience with 2 Bresser models, both possitive as negative.

As far as I know and what I have been able to find out, apart from the different sizes, there is no difference to the glass used on all lens elements (including the extra-low dispersion / ED ones) and coatings applied to them on both the objective and ocular lenses. Of course a value exceeding 7 degrees is not bad but in this class a high-end pair of binoculars is expected to have a field as wide as 7. Far from just being good for stargazing, viewing planets, the moon and general astronomy at night-time, I would also highly recommend these to anyone wanting a higher power binocular to mount onto a tripod and look out over the ocean, a lake or onto the mountains during the day. Since everyone’s eyes are different, diopter compensation allows you to adjust the focus to suit yours.

The Bresser Nautic 7x50 Binocular (WP/CMP) features a integrated and illuminated precision compass, whilst the Bresser Nautic 8x42 has an integrated digital compass in its armor housing, which points you the right way, at any time.
