About this deal

I was taken aback at the prohibition on the recent Maloney article (I think it was poor Arsely Parsley that copped it). The Celtic Handbook from 1938 has the new badge on the front cover for the first time instead of advertising and the logo was the same on the 50th year Jubilee Dinner in the Grosvenor Hotel. After due consultation and consideration, Celtic supporters either at club or association level responded to this ‘request and the plaque design was gifted to Celtic F. Established in 1888, Celtic has become one of the most adorned and respected football clubs in the world.

Easy Application: Simply lace your shoe, boots and trainers ensuring the trainer badges face upwards and are on the correct axis. During the first half of the twentieth century, the club’s home strip lacked a badge, but their away tops featured a large three-leafed shamrock from time to time between 1925 and 1965.

Unfortunately for Fergus his idea didn’t take into consideration the strength of feeling amongst the Celtic support and it didn’t get off the ground. During the amendment, there was even speculative consideration by Fergus McCann (the then Chief Executive) of possibly changing the crest at one short point, but thankfully was never taken any further see article.

Their 2-1 European Cup victory over Inter Milan made Celtic the first British and only Scottish club to have achieved the honour. The competition started with the blog team making a short-list of team badges as our chosen judges would have gone crazy if they had to look at all the team badges from all the teams on the planet. This stadium is the second largest in the country by capacity (Celtic arena holds 60832 spectators), second only to Murrayfield Stadium. Redesigning the badge of such an iconic football club (with some of the most devoted supporters in the world) was a daunting task, even if my alterations were only for fun.It was on that day that an Irish priest, Brother Wilfrid, gathered his fellow believers there and suggested that they organize a soccer club.

So I liked your new badge so much I got it tattooed on my leg at the weekend, like yourself I had my doubts because the original badge is so close to my heart but I love your re-design its different and unique but also very original, so thanks a lot for the inspiration. Obviously the club’s symbols and colours are Irish befitting of our humble beginnings but many probably don’t know that we only started using the hoops in 1903 after wearing green and white stripes before then and of course the original white top with green collar and Celtic cross on the right breast for the first season only. My father told me that Kelly made two meaningful contributions to Celtic: (1) he successfully defended the right to fly the flag above the old jungle; (2) he brought back the big man to Celtic Park. Possibly the earliest evidence of the standard four leaf clover badge officially being used by the club. In fact stronger proof that the official badge until 1938 was the 3 leaf is seen on the back of the 1929/30 season ticket with the badge stamped proudly. The bottom part of the frame comprises the “1888” mark surrounded by two abstract lines, resembling two bats. There are some cracking stories about the memorable characters and situations that developed over the years as we travelled on Celtic business.

After due consultation and consideration, Celtic supporters either at club or association level responded to this ‘request’ and the plaque design was gifted to Celtic F. My Dad related several shocking anecdotes about Kelly, but on a day like today I am in no mood to be negative or uncharitable. This whole ReBrand project was first inspired by my toying around with the iconic Celtic badge over over many years. Executed in green and white, the color combination which associates with the country most, it features a four-leave clover as the main element.May perpetual light shine upon my Auntie Bridget and my Dad and Canon McCabe, and all deceased members of Celtic Supporters Clubs throughout the world. However, it was not for many years before the club did formally adopt the four leafed clover as the official club badge, but the first steps had already been taken.
