This black-and-white illustrated middle grade series is the perfect series for fans of Dork Diaries , with so much relatable school drama, tween catastrophes and general hilariousness. I was desperate for something to tempt my 9 year girl away from Wimpy Kid / Tom Gates etc (which she loves) and this has 100% hit the spot. I love the fact it is still the illustrated diary format that kids love but with a strong, kind, funny girl as the lead.

Harper introduces herself, her family and friends at the beginning as a sweet from a pic'n'mix selection. It’s queen bee Maisie’s birthday party coming up, and the whole class is invited – but while Maisie is sometimes friendly to Harper, sometimes she says things which ‘make her teeth itch’; unkind things that make her feel about two inches tall. From dealing with a nit infestation, annual family trips and a brother with an obsession for his hair to grandparents taking part in TV shows and so much more, Drew simply learns to deal with life one catastrophe at a time.
