About this deal

If you want to stay busy (one secret to longevity) when there's no need to work, there has to be an Ikigai on your horizon, a purpose that guides you throughout your life and pushes you to make things of beauty and utility for the community and yourself. I liked a few chapters, more like 50-60% of the book to which I would happily give 5 stars, explaining how to live a fulfilling life. To achieve flow: a) Choose a moderately difficult task, b) Have a clear objective, c) Concentrate on a single task at a time. Yes there are chapters on diet and exercise, and the content of these is not particularly new or surprising (however irritating it may be, these things are indeed features of a healthy lifestyle).

Héctor García is a citizen of Japan, where he has lived for over a decade, and of Spain, where he was born.

And according to the book, keeping one's mind busy is one of the useful methods to a long life, so hopefully I am starting to head in the right direction? He is the author of several books about Japanese culture, including two worldwide bestsellers, A Geek in Japan and Ikigai.

Warm, patient, and kind, this book pulls you gently along your own journey rather than pushing you from behind. And according to the residents of the Japanese island of Okinawa – the world’s longest-living people – finding it is the key to a longer and more fulfilled life. Financial Freedom gives you an opportunity, not to retire and relax, but to burn yourself in things that you love doing. While I think the book is more about answering the basic question which we most of the time overlook.

Okinawa has the highest life expectancy in Japan, and it is remarkable considering the fact that it was one of the worst affected provinces after WW/II. The good part is that after finishing the book I wasn't angry with it, but with myself for not putting it down earlier. It explains how it is an alternative to Psychotherapy (which I have been doing weekly for 4 years) - it is similar but different as it shows clearly in a table format. She has served as a judge for the National Book Award (Translated Literature), the BTBA, and the PEN Translation Award. This book gives advice on how we can adapt our lives to live longer, which I am very skeptical about.
