About this deal

Fluke is a 1995 American fantasy drama film directed by Carlo Carlei from a screenplay by Carlei and James Carrington, based on the 1977 novel of the same name by James Herbert.

It seemed then as if I were seeing sky for the first time, and in a way I was, through different eyes. He is more than he thinks, more than he can remember and in the depths of his brain the memory of what he once was is clawing for release . The whole speech around that was very moving, but I think that was slyly snuck if, if that is the case and if so, I didn't like it. I remember feeling as if I really knew who Fluke was, and that he had somehow become someone close to me.The narrator is then dumped at a dog pound where his remembrance of being a man become more pronounced. The author takes the reader through many gripping and entertaining scenarios that ‘Fluke’ encounter while going through the confusions and quests caused by the lingering memories in his mind; memories which take him through his life towards an unknown destination and a surprising and pleasant climax. Come down the travelators, exit Sainsbury's, turn right and follow the pedestrianised walkway to Crown Walk and turn right - and Coles will be right in front of you.

Along the way he meets some colourful characters and gets into all sorts of mischievous doggy trouble! This amount includes seller specified domestic postage charges as well as applicable international postage, dispatch, and other fees. Fluke is inquisitive about their ability to communicate with each other and when he tries to talk about his previous life as a human Rumbo refuses to discuss it. And then there is Fluke, and here’s the thing - it is not a horror book, it is a deceptively simple tale into which Herbert imbues pathos and humour and out of my fuzzy recollections of three decades ago two things remain clear: I was enthralled and I ultimately moved to tears. From the master of British Horror, James Herbert, Fluke is the story of comes a story about a dog driven by an impulse he can't ignore. But he was once something more and in the depths of his consciousness there’s a memory clawing its way to the surface, tormenting him, refusing to let him rest. Fluke is the moving story of a dog with the memories of a human, with the signature twisting plot James Herbert is famed for.

Somewhere deep in his subconscious, Fluke knows that there’s something different about him, something that separates him from all of the other dogs. He keeps the dogs around and occasionally feeds them, but ties lLuke up in the rain when the dogs accidentally bring the cops into the junk yard. First published back in 1977, British author James Herbert’s forth novel entitled ‘Fluke’ was a dramatic departure from his previous three incredibly successful and well–received horror novels. Emanuel Levy of Variety stated, "The adventure doesn't pander to kids, though toward the end it gets overly emotional, milking every situation with lengthy reaction shots and cute closeups of Fluke" and "all three adults — Modine, Travis and Stoltz — otherwise accomplished and attractive performers, assume secondary status to the gorgeous dog and his loyal benefactor, Pomeranc.

Herbert’s writing is brilliant in this novel and his descriptions of life as a dog are so detailed and convincing that you would think he has been one himself at some point. This book was a real departure from other James Herbert books which are known for as being horrors, written in a gruesome style. Fluke is a dog, he realises from a young age that he isn't normal, he then goes on an adventure to discover the truth about himself. I'm not usually a big fan of stream-of-consciousness writing, and though this is only very loosely SOC, Herbet weaves the story together so well that I didn't really notice. I also felt like reading something a little less highbrow than a lot of my current reading so it ticked all the boxes.

First Edition of James Herbert's novel about a man who wakes from his sleep one morning to find he has become a dog.Naturally curious, intelligent and formidable, the sisters decide to become ‘detectors’ and discover what happened to Elizabeth Chester. I was mildly confused to begin with we are thrown into the story by seeing everything through a dog's eyes, and of course, he described things differently than humans would. This is possibly the best book I have ever read never been able to look at my dog the same way again.
