I was first interested in this book because whenever I see Rochelle Humes on TV she seems such a lovely, down to earth, genuine kind of person, and I wondered if her book had the same kind of feel. Blake’s mum and dad have no idea that he lives with lots of magical creatures – a unicorn in his wardrobe, an octopus in his bath! This is a really cute story about Blake and his little friends who have to hide when his family come into the room!

Then Blake hatches a little dragon who wants to fly but to do that he needs to grow a little bit bigger, which means Blake has to find him something to eat. If your kids already love broccoli, the story can still lead to a fun and no-pressure way of trying the foods they don’t want to try. Hume has put an introduction to the book to explain why she wrote it, together with some advice at the back for parents and caregivers on how to handle mealtimes and getting young readers to try new foods.I liked the way Blake hugs his friends to make them feel better and the way he goes about trying to find a food that the little dragon likes is going to be very relatable to any parents or caregivers who are reading along with young readers. This title also centres the subject of fussy eating, tackling it in a light and funny way and encouraging children to try new things – just like little dragon!
