About this deal

After assisting Mary Jane and Luke Cage with escorting civilians from Harlem to Fisk Tower, Spider-Man is devastated to learn the two have gone missing, and heads off to find them, leading to the game's opening sequence. Spider-Man Web of Shadows is a third-person action-adventure video game set in an open-world outer area of Manhattan. In other words, they come so close to looking like graphics that on the original Xbox rather than the 360. There are no extra motion controls for the PS3 version, but it does support rumble if you have a DualShock3 controller.

Generally speaking, the story is quite solid and enjoyable, and tells an interesting Spider-Man tale from start to finish. These sections function similarly to the moral choices in the console and PC version, and can have a major impact on the game's story. For one thing, Spider-Man earns experience points as you complete missions, which can be devoted to upgrading his various ground/aerial/special/whatever attacks as you deem appropriate, across both costumes. I experienced plenty of cool "Spider-Man" moments throughout thanks to the basic locomotion and combat and the occasional well-done cut-scene. Nothing here wasn’t possible on the last generation of consoles and after playing other open worlds the city of New York seems bland in comparison. The story takes about eight hours to plow through if you do nothing but the primary missions, though there are nearly a hundred extra missions to complete that also net you bonus experience (and Achievements in some cases), which should keep you occupied for a good, long while, and as there are four different endings to see, there’s enough content to the game to play through it at LEAST twice.

Jonah Jameson ( Daran Norris), who was captured and cloned as part of a plot by Smythe to discredit both him and Spider-Man. The city is also quite lively and features a very solid draw-out distance, making the city look as one would expect it to and giving the game a generally impressive visual presentation as a result. As you play the game, your moral actions dictate whether you’re red and blue (good) or black (evil) suit aligned, based on whether you save or harm civilians and what choices you make during cutscenes. Choose how Spider-Man fights, which powers to upgrade, who in the Marvel Universe to fight with or against, and the fate of New York City itself.

The Wii version is left with the comparatively flat sounding Dolby Pro Logic II, which isn't as full-bodied and immersive as the PS3 and 360 versions.
