About this deal

Baby Teeth is electrifyingly creepy. It calls to mind the great monster children of The Fifth Child or We Need to Talk About Kevin, but has a devilish tension all its own. Twisted, playful, and deeply unsettling, Zoje Stage's debut announces her as a new voice worth celebrating." - Colin Winnette, author of The Job of the Wasp After Milla's 17th birthday party, a happy occasion, she reveals to Moses that she is in constant pain and knows the end is near. She begs Moses to kill her by suffocation, but he cannot go through with it. Instead, the two have sex for the first time.

When you visit the dentist, be positive about it and make the trip fun. This will stop your child worrying about future visits. Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the advance reading copy. The opinion is purely my own. Tightly plotted, expertly choreographed.... Stage palpably conveys Suzette's fear, anger, frustration, and desperation while exploring the deleterious effects that motherhood can have on one's marriage and self-worth. ...Stage fuses horror with domestic suspense to paint an unflinching portrait of childhood psychopathy and maternal regret.” — Kirkus (starred)Age-Gap Romance: Moses being 23 to Milla's 16 is just one of the reasons Milla's parents are uncomfortable with their burgeoning relationship. Zoje Stage is an American writer from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, known for her work in the performing arts and literature. She was awarded an Emerging Storytellers Fellowship from the Independent Filmmaker Project for her script "Hands and Knees" and a Fellowship in Screenwriting from the New York Foundation for the Arts in 2012 and 2008, respectively. [1] [2] Starred Review. Stage fuses horror with domestic suspense to paint an unflinching portrait of childhood psychopathy and maternal regret." - Kirkus This is not a fun read. It’s gripping, but it’s really hard for me to imagine a child who hates her mother so much. I’ve read stories of kids who are physically and emotionally abused by a parent, and still the kid professes love for his or her parent. So to have a child so young purposely trying to do anything she can to destroy a non-abusive mother is extremely foreign to me.

The flight director watched her from his monitor. She hated all the ground control people, with their white coats and lilting voices, their play-dough smiles that flopped into frowns. They were all the same. Liars. It was such a long, boring, drawn-out ending that didn’t satisfy me in any way, shape, or form. I’m talking zero climax, no excitement, no fun race to the end, nothing. Just more dialogue and more recapping of what I’ve read at least twice already. There's not enough room in the house for both Hanna and her Mommy! Seven-year-old Hanna would be so much happier if Mommy would just disappear so that she and her Daddy could live happily ever after. Through Hanna and Suzette's (Mommy) eyes, we see their daily battles to maintain control in an unpredictable, ever-changing world and what it's like to maneuver through life when no one will hear you. The people in this story are permanently tied together by blood, but have toxic effects on each other. ( Warning: After the ARC disclaimer, I get a little spoilery talking about a part of the book that came up in my comment section, though I don't really consider it a true spoiler. The content may be upsetting for some.) Suzette's life and body are in constant turmoil, so it's important that she takes care of the things she does have control over. She's obsessed with keeping a sterile house and making sure her family appears well taken care of. She finds comfort in completing mindless tasks. Suzette is tormented by her physical scars and she's terrified that she'll have to get an ileostomy bag. She thinks that if she lets herself go, Alex might leave her. From brushing their first tooth to their first trip to the dentist, here's how to take care of your children's teeth.
