This is a hard book to review without giving away spoilers. What I will say is that this novel starts out as a simple but devastating crime of hit and run. A five year old boy is dead. Jenna Gray's life is changed forever. She runs off to a seaside town in Wales and begins to start her life over again. Then bam!!! A major twist happens in the story and everything changes. The book then takes off and twists and turns. The novel opens in a prologue describing a terrible accident. A mother lets go of her son Jacob’s hand, and a car strikes him with such force the boy’s body hits the windshield. The driver races away. The incident catches the public imagination because of the horror of the death of the child and the fact that the driver cannot be found. A team of Bristol Criminal Investigation Division (CID) detectives, led by Ray Stevens and younger police officer Kate Evans, are assigned to solve the crime. As they work the case, devastated young mother Jenna Gray escapes to the Welsh coast to deal with her grief. Then they took us into the quiet room. The quiet room had blinds at the window and judiciously placed tissues. The crying room, it should be called, because the news delivered there is never good. We sat on a peach sofa as the consultant told us Alex had bacterial meningitis; the next few days would be critical.

I walk haphazardly about the house, trying to imagine never being here again. The thought is both terrifying and liberating. Can I do this? The consultant was delighted. They wouldn’t be home by Christmas, but perhaps soon after. We began to feel excited about becoming a family. Part II was a bit of a letdown for me though. Yeah, I know. This was your favorite part of the book. You took your foot off the brakes and just plowed through the second half of the book. I read your review. I know what's up. And I can completely see why you would do that because Part II was insane! It was wild and crazy and outta control! I flew right the hell through it, too! I'm with you! I just finished this book about 10 minutes ago and I'm very impressed. I'm also very tired as it's now after 5am! I will be so very tired today but it is totally worth it!! My top book of the last 5 years, twisty, turny, impossible to put down, stays with you. HIGHLY recommended– Catherine Ah, Kate, I was just . . .” He stopped, recognizing the look on her face almost before he saw the Command and Control printout in her hand. “What have you got?”

Beyond the Book

This is a very good read, full of heart and emotion. I sat, trying to imagine how any mother would get through this. I couldn’t. Then the twist hits and it was so cliche that I never really managed to shake my annoyance after that. And when we get to the last bit, the dramatic climax of the story, my eyes were rolling so hard. How are these detectives this incompetent? Anyone with a few brain cells could see that coming a mile off. My top book of the last 5 years, twisty, turny, impossible to put down, stays with you. HIGHLY recommended’ – Catherine With that said, I don’t know why I think I know better than the author. She made her bed and I didn’t necessarily want to lie or is that lay or whatever, in it. I forgave her the choices made.

A masterclass in plotting, with a killer twist. I could not put it down. It's hard to believe I Let You Go is a first novel. The pacing, plotting and twists put it up there with the finest thrillers * JoJo Moyes * DING DING DING…..We have a winner! The book takes a minute to set up and you may find it a bit slow, but relax, you’re in good hands. (And wake up! You might want to really pay attention at the beginning since there may or may not be a few clues already sprinkled in. ) Evening, sir. Do you need to come in? I’ll have to sign you in.”“No, thank you,” said Ray. “Can you tell me where your sergeant is?”“He’s at the mother’s house,” the PC said. He pointed down the Writing After the End was a deeply emotional experience. What happens in the book is Max’s and Pip’s story, not mine, and the filter of fiction finally enabled me to grieve. The story broke my heart all over again, but it mended it, too, and I finally made peace with our decision. None of us can predict the future, but we can shape it as it happens. We can choose to live again. The glimpse of writing Jenna sees is in her mind. Even she can’t say for sure it was there ( ‘The sea washes over the writing I’m now not certain I saw at all.’) and when she looks again there is nothing there.
