About this deal

Remove the 230 V high voltage line (brown) and neutral (blue) cables from the input terminals and place to one side, ensuring that these are not touching any other cables, metal or conductive surfaces. Using your Ring doorbell as a template, mark the location of the two mounting holes on your wall. 10. Install the anchors from Bag A (optional) Since you’ll be working with high-voltage electricity, first turn off the main power switch on your fusebox or consumer unit. IP20 provides a low level of protection from large objects, for example fingers. It does not protect from water.

If you have an existing doorbell, your new device can be installed with the included DIN Rail Transformer. You can connect an Alexa-enabled device, Ring Chime or Ring Chime Pro to your doorbell, if you'd still like an internal chime as well as notifications through your phone. To power your new doorbell, you need to bypass the doorbell mechanism by removing the wire from the doorbell mechanism and connecting it to the second terminal on the transformer, in this example terminal 3. If you are unsure, you should consult a qualified electrician. Tips for identifying your transformer In this example. the wires on the left (0 and 3) are the wires that power the doorbell’s physical mechanism (or in electrical terms, its solenoid or coil), making it produce sound. If you look closely, you can see thin wires, running from terminals 0 and 3 to the hidden solenoid. By contrast, terminals 1 and 2 are connected directly to each other via a thin wire (meaning they aren’t providing power to your doorbell). If you are replacing a Ring doorbell, align the two small screw holes with two of the existing holes in your wall (fig 2).

You can identify whether your doorbell has an inbuilt transformer by the presence of high voltage cabling entering your chime along with markings that indicate high voltages of 230V. These cables are often secured inside the transformer housing. For the doorbell installation we will only alter the low voltage cabling. If you are unsure, you should consult a qualified electrician. Attach your existing doorbell wires to the terminals on the rear of your Video Doorbell, and tighten the terminal screws with the Ring screwdriver. Open the Ring app and tap Set Up Device to begin the setup process. Select Ring Video Doorbell Pro from the list and follow the in-app instructions. Run the cable down from the outlet to your molding and then choose a path to your Video Doorbell Pro 2

The reference standard EN 61558-2-8 does not specify a specific time but states “Bell and chime transformers are generally intended to supply domestic sound signalling equipment and other similar devices where the load is applied for short periods of time.”This can be done by turning off the mains power switch, or by turning off the power coming into your home at your electric meter. Your doorbell will take a few minutes to start up. Once the blue light starts spinning, you'll be able to connect the doorbell to your wireless network. Follow the in-app steps. 9. Secure your Ring doorbell The bypass cable disables and isolates your existing doorbell chime. This is necessary for your Ring Video Doorbell to get the power it needs, but it means your doorbell chime will no longer ring. Note: Do not use any screw other than the included long mounting screws when securing your Ring doorbell. Here you can see there is a slight opening in the plastic, and two wires are going inside. These are connected to the doorbell mechanism, so you should disconnect these wires.
