About this deal

Comfort is always a top priority for any traveler, and I understand where you’re coming from. While the Farpoint has worked well for me, I agree that better organization and a more comfortable harness system can make a difference during those long walks and rough travels. The Trek opens from the side, like a suitcase. The items in the center are held together by compression straps, keeping everything else in place too. But I think the best fit for this bag is actually round-the-world or gap-year travelers who will travel mostly overland. This insufficiency in comfort didn’t start ‘weighing’ on me until maybe the 3rd or 4th month of my travels so again it really depends on what type of traveller you are. If you do not plan to travel for an extended period of time and carry the bag a lot, you will be fine. Or if you often opt for taxi rides instead of walking uphill in the heat to save a few pennies, you will be fine too.

I booked most of my tours via either Get Your Guide or Viator. You can also book locally, but I advise you to ask around and follow the local recommendations. Integrated compression system. While the regular Farpoint which has no internal organization features, the Trek does have several. Internal Compression Straps – to shrink down your gear and keep everything in place as you move around In the main compartment, there’s a mesh seperator which helps you keep clean and dirty kit apart, along with an ID card holder and key clip to keep your valuables safe and easy to access. No, there is just one size. It used to have a S/M and a M/L version but no longer. There is now only one size: O/S. The latest edition has an adjustable harness. This means you can move the harness up or down by up to about 3 inches or 8cm. I can get a cover for a month or three months and I know I can travel with peace of mind and get the best product for my money. And it also covers COVID-19.

Load-lifting 4 mm LightWire peripheral frame effectively transfers the load from harness to hipbelt Although the Farpoint/Fairview series isn’t necessarily designed for hiking, they are comfortable enough to take on hikes during your travels. Where to buy Osprey Farpoint 55 The Osprey Fairview 55 is perfectly fine and comfortable when walking from the train station to the hostel, waiting for a cab, or performing any regular travel commuting that does not require you to walk with this bag for extended periods of time. When reviewing the Farpoint Trek 55, it occurred to me that it could be part of a very cool set-up for long-term travel. When product pictures of the new Farpoint got released, I saw many comments on forums comparing it to the Osprey Porter. They do look a bit similar in pictures, but the Farpoint is absolutely NOT as structured or as stiff as the Porter.Whether to buy the Farpoint or Fairview 55 or another version depends on your space requirements and whether you’re into the 2-in-1 system. You can consider several configurations based on your needs: Moovit is also an excellent and very underrated travel and journey-planning app. It works great in many countries and will show you all possible routes by public transport, including the timetables.

Osprey have now constructed the Fairview from recycled materials 450D Recycled Twist Dobby Polyester to be specific. This is a lightweight yet durable fabric that keeps the bag under 2kg in weight. A PFC/PFA free water repellent coating adds additional travel protection from dirt and incidental showers but I would always recommend getting a rain cover if you are planning on trekking in bad weather. Price If I were going on a big round-the-world trip or gap year today — one that would take me through multiple climates — I would likely go for this set-up instead of just a single carry-on. Conclusion Technically, this bag is a bit too big to be carried on, but some travellers claim that you could probably be able to get away with it. I think if Osprey took away those 2 litres and make this bag truly a carry-on size without the day bag attached, it would make so much more sense. In the end, you only gain 2 to 5 litres (depending on if it’s a female or male version) for the price of possibly not being able to carry it on.Support for a water bladder. A water system for trekking is not included, but you can easily add one if you want.
