About this deal

As of 2021, Hisense introduced gaming features like HDMI 2.1 bandwidth and variable refresh rate support to some higher-end TVs. Now, their higher-end TVs support up to 4k @ 144Hz, and even their cheaper models have advanced gaming features, such as VRR. Hisense uses a simple naming scheme. Starting with their 2021 TVs, the flagship ULED lineup has a U in front of the model names, while the entry-level models have an A. The first letter is followed by a number to indicate where it stands in the lineup; the last letter represents the year; Hisense uses G for 2021, H for 2022, and K for 2023. For example, the Hisense U8His a high-end 2022model, while the Hisense A6H is an entry-level 2022 model. If there's an R in the model code, it means it uses Roku TV instead of Android TV. You'll get colourful, sharp picture quality even though the HDR brightness could be better. And the design of the set will look smart in your living room. It's a shame that the sound isn't quite up to par, but that’s easily solved by hooking up a separate soundbar.

We use all of these objective test results to make comparisons about quality and performance between different TVs, but our evaluation doesn't end there. We also spend hours with each set, watching shows and movies, and using carefully selected video samples to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of each set and help us tell you which TVs look and sound the best in a real home viewing environment. The A7GQ also features Hisense’s propriety smart TV system, VIDAA U5.0, as well as Freeview Play with all the UK terrestrial catch-up apps and services. The VIDAA system is intuitive to use and runs at a decent speed from button press to app opening and playing, plus there is Netflix, Prime Video and YouTube in 4K HDR. There is a content discovery feature along with direct one-press buttons on the remote and there is also compatibility with Alexa for voice commands. The Hisense A7G series of TVs still tries to give any dynamism to the picture as much as possible, but it falls short of screens capable of producing more brightness. The picture with HDR content is obtained with a limited dynamic range in terms of image brightness, albeit with a wide color reproduction. Colors look natural and lifelike with certain HDR settings in the menu. Skin tones look right. But on the arc side, most TVs at this price point can be brighter than the A7GQ. Smart TV Want terrific picture quality, but you don’t have room for a full-size TV? The A90K will (literally and figuratively) brighten up any room, and is a major offering that should not be dismissed merely because of its minor size.Percentage Luminance drop at 35 degree horizontal angle from the centre of the screen with 50% white output Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying small white square taking up 10% of the screen (measured in Nits)

Disappointingly, there are fewer HDMI ports – three instead of four, but ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) are covered across all of them so you could plug a game console into any port and benefit from those features – though they are HDMI 2.0 ports, not 2.1 specified. eARC is supported on HDMI 2 for pass-through of lossless audio. Hisense makes use of a variety of different smart TV platforms, depending on the set you’re watching, including the third-party Roku and Android TV platforms. The U7QF, however, uses a proprietary OS called VIDAA U. Attach high-definition home entertainment devices to the 43A7GQTUK via its 3HDMI ports, so you can get the most out of your games consoles, home cinema systems and other HD devices. The 43A6GTUK’s colour palette can skew rather pale at times, too - especially with skin tones and in very bright HDR areas. Unsurprisingly, this issue extends to noticeable clipping of shades and detail in near-white parts of HDR pictures.

The 43A6GTUK is another lesson from Hisense in how you can no longer judge a TV by its price point. Yes, there are weaknesses - its unhelpful presets, for example, and the slight de-saturation and occasionally banding in its colours. The bottom line, though, is that the 43A6GTUK offers more features and delivers a much greater level of picture and sound consistency than we’d have thought possible for so little money. Dolby Atmos Redefine your living room's sound with Dolby Atmos, immersing you in the action with powerful audio that flows all around you for the complete cinema experience. Quantum Dot Get closer to reality with over a billion true-to-life colours. Experience a wider palette of colour up to 100% (typical value) under the DCI-P3 standard ensures smoother gradients whilst reds, greens and blues appear more vivid and realistic. Our testing measures contrast and maximum brightness, as well as lag time. Using a Leo Bodnar Video Signal Input Lag Tester to test video signal delay, we time how long it takes for content to travel from the original video source to the screen, measured to the millisecond. Shorter response times equate with faster gaming performance, letting us objectively know which TVs are better for gaming. Far from just showing pictures and making noise, the 43A6GTUK has a few handy extras up its sleeve. Please note: Failure to produce the card and relevant ID means we are unable to release goods on collection.
