About this deal

Marie Forleo: And I think when there’s more of us that believe that things are figureoutable, not only can we make our lives better, but more importantly we can solve some of our collective challenges, because we’ve got a lot of stuff happening right now. Here’s the thing that people need to remember. At the end of our show, we always say the world needs that very special gift that only you have. There is only one of you. No one ever has, nor will they ever have, the unique blend of talents and skills and gifts that you have. And if you don’t do everything possible while you’re alive on this planet to share your gifts, to reach your dreams, the world will have lost something truly irreplaceable: you. Let me ask you this, because this has been true for me. I've written two books so far, and I definitely want to do more. It's always an interesting kind of balance for me with the other things that we do to run the business because I'm writing a lot. So it's like I'm writing, writing, writing, but not necessarily aiming it at a book.

Marie Forleo: And now my friend, it’s time for our insight to action challenge. Remember, we do not want passive listeners here on the Marie Forleo Podcast. We want you to metabolize what you learn and use it to create a richer, fuller life. Today’s challenge, very simple. I want to know what book has made the biggest impact on your creative journey and why. So all I need you to do is take a screenshot of you listening to this episode, tag me at Marie Forleo, and if you can, tag the author too. Writing a book is a really challenging process, and as an author myself, it means a lot when you hear from readers that your book made a difference to them. So tag me and the author and use the hashtag #ILovedThisBook. That was the warning folks gave me when I shared I was heading to London for my Everything is Figureoutable book tour. Aside from firmly believing in the fact that almost everything is ... figureoutable, and writing stuff down, there wasn’t much in the way of methodology. Marie Forleo: Oh, my gosh! Tonight is the big event, but before we go there, we are planning on dropping in on some unsuspecting B-Schoolers. We’re going to hope to make it to their meetup and just crash the meetup and surprise them. I have some big news to share that’ll help you have more clarity, confidence, resilience, and success in the new year.Remember — no matter what happened in 2020 or what you’ll face in the new year — you have what it takes to figure anything out and become the person you’re meant to be. Well, consciousness is always expanding as is information, right? So all you have to do is talk to a 25-year-old and you go, "Whoa, kids are smarter than we were." At least the kids I'm talking to. Especially in consciousness, in vibration, in expansion. So books are the same. They're written by people. So as we evolve and grow, books do too. Our Creative Strategist, Hailey, loves taking time to sit down with these inspiring women anytime she needs a boost of encouragement, to learn how they get things done. Yeah. So you've interviewed close to 200 writers and you've helped thousands of people just complete and finish and actually publish their book. I'm curious if you can speak into the qualities that set people apart from the folks who finish... Or excuse me, that start and don't finish, to the folks who actually follow through and get their work out into the world. His book Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience brought the concept of flow into the mainstream in the 90s, and it’s remained among the best books on creativity for decades. It shows you how to control the state of flow, instead of waiting for it to hit, so you can be more happy and satisfied in everything you do.

Marie Forleo: Oh, absolutely. This is one of the things I live my life by. As a highly creative person: simplify to amplify. So if you want to… Right? If you want to amplify, whether it’s your result, or your sense of joy, or your sense of contribution, or how far you can get in any domain. Yes! Simplified it. It keeps me sane all of the time; use it constantly.I bet it's no surprise to you that over 80% of the population wants to write a book, but did you know that 97% of people who start writing their books never finish them? And what's more, 95% of people who pitch books to agents and editors get turned down? My guest today is going to help all of us beat those odds.

Make yourself a cup of something delicious, put on your cozy pants, and settle in for some good, old-fashioned book love. 15 Books About Creativity We Can’t Put DownMarie Forleo: Everybody wants some fish and chips. I know you guys… your chips, they’re our fries. You call them chips. We call them fries. It’s all good. The fried potatoes. You guys got this. Go chips! Jersey Marie is going to bring a new cuisine over to the UK. People are going to like it. I would say it, it's got to be three. They're all equally important. But I would say mindset is the number one most important habit. Because if you're thinking it right, you're not going to keep showing up. Or you're going to show up, but you're going to berate yourself and waste a lot of your damn time. So I would say, decide that it's going to be shit. Decide that it's not all up to you, that this is a collaboration with your muse, your God, just your unconscious that is trying to help your children live a better life.
