For comparison, you can see her below in the same spot on the same day fit testing the Graco RightGuide. That seat has a 50lb minimum so she didn’t ride in it yet. But the lap belt fit is completely in the “green zone” from the IIHS chart above. Invented from his own needs of being a parent of four, Jon Sumroy has transformed a simple idea into a successful product – mifold, the Grab-and-Go Booster Seat. The multi-award-winning booster seat has now sold over a million times worldwide and has brought a convenient and safe revolution to keeping kids safe in cars. So, if you’re looking for an option to the big traditional booster seat, here’s our pro tips on whether the Mifold or the BubbleBum are right for you.

This diagram from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is extremely helpful in understanding how to judge lap belt fit. If it’s too high, the seatbelt can cause severe abdominal injury (also called “seatbelt syndrome”) in a crash. If it’s too low, the child’s pelvis can be rotated forward and cause them to slide down in a crash – again resulting in abdominal injury. Their commitment to continue to license all existing booster seats for sale and continued use, without limitation, is their recognition that booster seats are a safe, well-established, practical, proven and cost effective method of restraining children in cars. I truly applaud Carfoldio for pushing the envelope on booster seat design. As kids get older and travel and carpool more frequently, it’s handy to have ultra-compact options that keep them safe.

In this review, I’m taking a look at one of the most innovative child safety products of the last few years: the mifold folding booster seat. Thanks to our partners at Carfoldio, I have the opportunity to get hands-on and in-depth with their upgraded version, the new mifold comfort. mifold is not regulatedfor adult use and therefore we do not recommend that it beused by adults. Can the mifold be used with inflatable seatbelt?

When I learned the concept of an inflatable booster seat like the BubbleBum, despite Liz’s rave review and strong recommendation from several years ago, I admit to being a little skeptical.

I tested both of my kids on the Graco RightGuide and was very pleased with the seatbelt fit (even though my daughter isn’t even big enough to use it for a ride yet). It’s not without it faults, though, so be sure to do your research before buying. Usually we like kids to be at least 5 to ride in a booster, as that’s generally how long it takes to them to reach the maturity to sit properly all the time. Some kids are ready for that responsibility at 4.5. If she’s over 40lbs and you’re confident she’ll sit properly 100% of the time, the hifold could be an appropriate choice. It’s not going to be the right product for every family, and that’s ok. The mifold Original that is sold in the US is slightly different from the version sold in the rest of the world and is only regulated for use in the US. You claim that mifold is “more than 10x smaller and just as safe as a regular booster seat." What is this claim based upon? Before you can get to installing the hifold booster seat in your car, there is some preliminary set up. The manufacturer advertises 243 unique combinations thanks to the wide variety of adjustments, so it’s helpful to do a preliminary try with your kid before you’re in a high-pressure travel situation. If you plan to travel with mifold, you need to be confident that your child will have a safe seatbelt fit in whatever kind of car you’re in – and if you plan to use a taxi, Uber or Lyft you may not be able to predict what will come your way. Before bringing mifold on a trip, I recommend trying your child on it in multiple cars to confirm that you get a good lap belt fit in different types of vehicles.Overall, my kids and I like the hifold fit & fold booster seat. As you can see in the photos here, we had no issue getting a safe seatbelt fit on both of them thanks to all of the adjustments. Advantages of the hifold fit and fold booster Some child passenger safety technicians believe parents should wait to use the RideSafer until the child is older. We believe in the safety of this product and started using it with our own son on a daily basis when he was a little bit older than 3. We used it on vacations and other occasions with him but we waited until after a multi-day road trip to start using it everyday. Most often the reason other technicians say to wait is because young children haven’t learned to stay properly seated. This is the reason we recommend using the tether strap with children from 3 to 5 years old. When a child is 4
