About this deal

She’s a thorn in my side, a menacing, cantankerous, pain-in-the-ass who’s turned our Business Mathematics course into a goddamn gladiator arena. I'll leave this war zone unscathed, coming out on top…And if I have my way with that crazy-haired, ball-busting hellion, that will be in more than one sense of the word. Axel: Grumpy, thoughtful, smart, artistic, quiet, sensitive, caring, protective, sexy bespectacled man.

As a female soccer player, I've battled men before. But with Ryder, it's war. And victory is going to taste so, so sweet...

for similar setting, try All Rhodes Lead Here by Mariana Zapata or Waterfall Effect (second chance, romantic suspense) by K.K. Allen. I love the Bergman Brothers series so much and I loved all the little breadcrumbs we got of AxelRooney throughout the first three books that it made the experience of reading their book that much more enjoyable. Since then, steering clear of Rooney has been impossible. In a matter of months, she’s kissed me speechless, commandeered my art career, and infiltrated not only my dreams but my home. The woman who was once avoidable has become the last thing I needed: temptingly within reach. How I am stupidly in love with this book bc I stayed up way past my bedtime reading and highlighting passages.

I could go on forever about this book. I could talk about the family representation and how we got to see such a beautiful, wholesome, and chaotic family.

Ryder: Why she hates me, I don't know. What I do know is that Willa Sutter is the kind of chaos I do not need in my tidy life. Wild hair, wilder eyes. Bee-stung lips that should be illegal. A temper that makes the devil seem friendly. And she has turned our Business Mathematics course into a gladiator arena... The only thing I wished with this book was for there to be more fake dating, given that it was a marriage of convenience, I expected them to have to hold hands or kiss in front of people, you know everything that comes with that trope. But, the marriage was kept a secret from the Bergman family, and any people that Axel & Rooney were around, already knew that the marriage was for convenience only. As far as I’m concerned there’s only one (1) requirement for contemporary romance novels: none of that misogyny (internalized or otherwise) / toxic masculinity / sexist bullshit. How can the bar be so high when it’s so low??? I really loved having a deaf hero and exploring how he communicates with people and how communication means so much. Ryder was a burly, silent hero and I really loved him and how he slowly let Willa in. Both Ryder and Willa are broken people who learn to trust and open up to each other. I will say, it was annoying how much Willa didn't realize she was talking out loud. Are there people who really don't realize they've said something out loud? It happened all the time and got annoying to me.
