About this deal

So why is the Celestron NexGO DX referred to as a ‘kit’? It comes with a Bluetooth remote. That’s it. Rather small and easy to lose, this CR2032 battery-powered thumb-remote does overcome one of the pain-points of afocal astrophotography. Touching the screen of a smartphone to take a photo is to be avoided when focusing on, say, the Moon (which is what we used the NexGO to capture). However, avoiding the inevitable wobble of doing so is actually very easy, the magic words being: “Hey Siri, take a photo.” Almost all smartphone cameras, iOS and Android, include both voice-control and shutter delay options. So the Bluetooth remote probably isn’t required.

You can also switch your image from portrait to landscape simply by turning the padded eyepiece clamp and readjusting the X, Y, and Z axis to realign your phone with the eyepiece. An excellent choice for nature photography with binoculars and spotting scopes, simple fast setup. This adapter allows your phone camera to take images or video of what you are viewing through your instrument allowing you to capture those rare sights. However, the best reason to buy this monocular is its phenomenally good image quality. Through the ED Prime glass, even distant objects are beautifully clear and free of fringing, while impressive close-focusing abilities make it just as good for observations at close range. Thanks to the large objective lens and exit pupil, it’s also a strong performer in low light. It’s more than twice as expensive as some competitors, but the Legend Ultra HD makes it worth it. Beyond Basic Digiscoping

Whether you’re using one of the many digiscoping systems on the market or simply trying to hold your phone as still as possible behind your optics, it’s rewarding to share these memories with people. The advances in digiscoping technology make it easier than ever to share images and videos directly to social media since you’re already using your phone. Most mounts consist of the phone holder and an eyepiece adjustor. The clamp models are adjusted with a screw that will loosen or tighten, with the inner portions that touch the phone covered with a protective rubber or EVA pads. The eyepiece area also has a screw for adjusting, which is the area that gives people the most trouble. Make sure the eyepiece size fits your phone and your particular scope. The exception is rifle scopes, as not many adapters will fit these. Ease of Use Key specs – Optics: 8x magnification, 42mm objective lens, fully-coated ED lenses; Field of view: 7.8°; Exit pupil: 5.25mm; Eye relief: 17mm; Close focus: 1.9m; Weatherproofing: Nitrogen-filled waterproofing; Accessories provided: Soft case, neoprene strap, rubber lens cover; Length: 13.8cm; Weight: 330g Generally speaking, the bigger the objective and the higher the magnification, the larger, heavier and more expensive your monocular is going to be. It’s also crucial to keep them in balance. A 10 x 25 monocular can still give you great views of distant objects in good light, but may sometimes struggle early in the morning or on an overcast day. For that reason, you might want to look at an 8 x 25 or 10 x 42 if you like to go stargazing at night or watching wildlife at dawn. I’ve been digiscoping now for some time but have always had mixed feelings about the efficiency of doing so. In fact, I stopped doing it for a while because of the struggle to get any level of quality. The downsides just weren’t worth dealing with.

The smartphone clamp itself is spring-loaded and it can take a smartphone up to about six inches in diameter. However, it's not wise to put a phablet-style device into the Celestron NexYZ because that introduces a distinct wobble that makes the entire structure unstable. That’s despite the Celestron NexYZ including an effective clamp that fits around the eyepiece holder and secured there by a cone-shaped screw nut. It’s a good and reliable fit, but don’t overload it. Universal Smartphone Camera AdapterBrought as a present for a family member, not used yet but have had a look to understand how it works. Fits all phones and very easy to adjust. Good quality! (03/11/2021) Georgina - Works wellOn opening the box I thought it was a bit flimsy but it does the job well. It is very adjustable and is set up in no time at all. I tried it on the telescope but only in daylight as nights are cloudy. Took good pic. The only thing being in the daylight some light leaked in at the edges, something th (27/10/2020) -Good productEasy to use once you get the hang of it, have already had some good results Very efficient sales & delivery service (06/06/2020) Richard - Marlborough Ollin solved some pretty big issues in digiscoping with a few simple features.
