About this deal

Neil: We tend to work on what we call a body chassis – which is the torso and legs together in a solid pose – which helps us to make sure that no combination of parts looks too ungainly and lopsided. The big difference from the single-pose miniatures is that we can use this chassis to work in more options that people want, and slight changes can make a model look quite different. These characterful new Space Marines will be available first from select specialist retailers this summer, followed by a wider release at a later date. Keep an eye out for more information on when and where you can get yours.

Coming to stores later this year, these seven miniatures come together to form Strike Force Justian . This is the comprehensive guide to the Adeptus Astartes in the latest edition of Warhammer 40,000. It contains 93 datasheets – somewhat slimmed down from the Index, but still a massive roster – and seven complete Detachments. That means seven ways to combine your units, and seven distinct styles of play with seven unique sets of Enhancements, Stratagems, and Detachment rules. Model 2 makes the Primaris Ancient. This model is completely monopose, only the right shoulder pad is interchangeable. There is one helmet and one bare head to choose from.Model 4 makes the Company Veteran with bolt rifle. Here too there is a choice between helmet and bare head, but otherwise no extra arms or weapons. WarCom: Did any unique challenges arise when designing new miniatures for a range as visually consistent as the Space Marines? So for Assault, you have the Company Champion, while the Veteran with a bolt rifle could easily be an elevated member of the Sternguard. The Headsmen’s Curse is an aggressive, powerful warband focused on supporting the Wielder of the Blade, while the attendant Nighthaunt support their master with multiple control mechanics and special skills.* Dom: Just as an overall project, I’ve loved seeing the reactions of Warhammer fans who get to see these iconic miniatures realised in new, awesome forms that meld right into the modern faction. People aren’t loving these out of pure nostalgia, they’re also amazing designs in their own right, and you could clearly imagine newcomers like the Company Heroes having always been part of the range. The fundamental coolness that made people fall in love with the originals is present and correct, and if you’re new to Warhammer 40,000, you get to experience it too. Surround your Primaris Ancient with a selection of Core units** and watch your enemies learn that Space Marines are just as deadly on the verge of death.WarCom: The new Company Heroes join a long legacy of Command Squads in Space Marine armies. How did you choose what to include in the unit? Each miniature comes with a detailed base, and doesn’t require any glue to assemble. They’re a fun collector’s piece for fans of the forces of Chaos, and great additions to any Death Guard army.
