Edit: ps I'm not arguing if someone wants to go the legal route with Dolphin. If they want to I say go for it!!! Playing games legally on an emulator can be an amazing experience!!! It was the way I played Prime till the remaster was through a rip of my Wii copy and in Dolphin. For most people it's not worth the hassle and for that I would say the FPS fix on PC is worth it for 4K Ai upscaled texture, anti aliasing, true widescreen support, the usage of any controller they want to with Steam, and the extra content added through the PS2 port. So, it is a trade off. Although most combat encounters are relatively slow and straightforward, boss fights are a highlight. These demand a thoughtful party composition, clever tactics, and smart item management. Even on the normal difficulty level, players might find it difficult to coast through boss encounters like they would regular ones. While the fundamentals still feel a little clunky, the increased challenge makes boss fights considerably more engaging. If they release patches that fix at least half of these issues I'll buy a physical copy. Otherwise, this is a hard pass for me. Dimjimmer maybe I've touched a nerve. But, I will ask a question. When someone says "play on Dolphin" do they tend to mean A) buy a legal copy of the game, rip it and enjoy it on Dolphin. Or B) pirate the game and play it on Dolphin. In my experience it has not been the former. And even then I'm not saying people can't or shouldn't play the game on GCN if they want the 60 fps. That's fine and I honestly don't care. But, the trade off is the loss of the extra content and the amount of extra goodies the PC port does give. Tales of Symphonia was a formative experience for me. For my young 11-year-old brain, it redefined my understanding of the JRPG genre. The vibrant presentation, action-focused combat, and mature story took me by surprise. Weekend after weekend, a friend and I would explore the world of Sylvarant together, making incremental progress in each play session. While I had played a few JRPGs before, none had hooked me the way Tales of Symphonia had. It was originally released in the middle of 2003 in Japan and then in the United States and Europe a year later in July and November of 2004 respectively. This game has also been rereleased a few times. Once for the PlayStation 3 in 2013 and 2014. Then again on PC in 2016. That all said, this version does have the bonus content from the PS2 and PS3 versions, so there's that.
