Who It's For If used in WiFi (like at home), the battery lasts a long time. When used otherwise, I have to charge it every night, but it is completely worth it for the piece of mind!
Is the Whistle GO Explore too good to be true, though? I wanted to find out, so I put one on Stevie's collar for a month to see if it could deliver. Does it make good on its claims? I'm one of those pet parents. My dog — a two-year-old lab-boxer-pit mix with a heart of gold named Stevie — is very important to me, and I'm pretty sure that I annoy her with how often I'm up in her business. I'm always trying to play, snuggle, give scratches, and marvel at her cuteness. (I've put a sweater on her once, and only once). That all may sound like paradise for a dog, but I swear she gives me side-eye when I get too clingy. Thanks to the app, the device provides detailed information in every aspect while being very easy to use. We didn’t have huge issues with it, but of course, everyone’s experiences are unique, and so are their opinions. It recognizes when your dog does important things like playing, running around, or when he misses out on something important. There’s more to discuss regarding the Whistle app, but you’ll have to learn about some features to understand how helpful these things are. So, let’s get started by talking about this device’s capabilities and features. What are All the Features of the Whistle GO Explore? The most important thing for most owners is how fast you get notified of a pet escaping the premises. Unfortunately, this is one area where Whistle doesn't take top honors. In my tests, it usually took a full 4.5 minutes to get a notification (text and push) that the device had left the safe places zone, which as many pet owners know, is plenty of time for a determined doggo to ditch you. In comparison, the Fi Smart Collar took 3 minutes and 20 seconds for the initial notification. Both the Fi Collar and the Whistle GO come with settings that allow you to avoid any unnecessary push notifications. When we got our dog, Kaya, last year, I was ready for life with a puppy. I’d read the books and watched endless training videos. What I wasn’t prepared for was the endless assault of companies trying to sell me a million kinds of dog things.

The Whistle Go Explore doesn't come with a separate base station; it has a built-in Wi-Fi radio and uses your home router to create its own base station. The third-generation Fi comes with a Bluetooth-enabled charging base and also supports Wi-Fi, with the ability to connect to up to six networks at a time. It's said to be highly durable and almost completely waterproof, with a long-lasting battery that can supposedly work for up to 20 days on a full charge. It also boasts other quality of life features like a night light, food calculator, and tele-vet access.What’s more, the application takes the responsibility of making things easier for you by converting everything into tables or charts you can easily understand. I bought the Twist and Go collar offered that is compatible with the device. I like the collar, and I recommend it. The kit comes with a Hook and Loop attachment for wider collars and a snap attachment for narrower collars. The Snap attachment looks OK, but I would not use the Hook and Loop attachment. It uses velcro, and the velcro isn't long enough to securely hold the attachment in place on a wider collar (See Attached Pics). Before we finally get down to discussing the features, one crucial detail left to cover is the phone app. To put it frankly, this app is what’s responsible for making the Whistle GO Explore as easy to use and effective as it is. Speaking of the battery, it seems to hold up pretty well- at least for our usage. (I worried a lot before that she would disappear and the battery would die before I could find her but if you are keeping tabs there would be plenty of time before that could happen- as long as you stay on top of battery charge)
Of course, the experience for this device wasn’t perfect for everyone either, as you can see in this review from a user complaining about various things.
Battery life is one of the most important things regarding devices like this. Why’s that? The answer is very, very simple. the device is waterproof, as described. My dog has been swimming twice and the device continues to work. This person wasn’t a big fan of it, though… They’re saying that they ran into specific issues that made using the device inconvenient. Instead, you can opt to get notices about only the most essential things, such as the summary of your dog’s day, when they reach a particular dog training goal, and more. During this period, you can use the device as much as you’d like and return it at the total price (depending on certain conditions) if you run into any problems or don’t like what it offers.
