About this deal

Unfortunately, Charade Maniacsis a prime example of “quantity over quality.” There are many bachelor routes to uncover, and not all characters are likable. By the very nature of the game’s premise, you can’t trust anything you initially come across at face value, as many plot twists make you see the characters in different lights. Sometimes, as with the blunt Ebana, you get a deeper understanding and appreciation for the characters by going through their respective routes. Other times, you get left with a mixed sense of character. Such is the case with Iochi, as they do not-nice things in their route but for understandable reasons. Fans can wishlist the Charade Maniacs Standard or Limited Edition on the IFI NA Online Store today!

Keito Ebana (CV. Tomoaki Maeno) – An antagonistic, distrustful man who wants nothing to do with anyone else in the cast when they aren’t being forced to perform. He joins the Cooking Team. Mizuki Iochi (CV. Megumi Ogata) – A bold, mature older sibling type who the rest of the cast constantly wonder if they’re a man or a woman and about which Iochi could care less. They join the Cooking Team. I agreed with a lot of what you said especially regarding the heroine. She has a potentially good brain, truly, and I’m excited when she finally allows herself to think because that’s where I feel the route finally starts. But gosh is it frustrating when she goes like “nah, I know I should think, but I don’t want to think, why can’t we just be happy?”. Every single time I just impatiently wait for her to start connecting the dots near the end of the route. I agreed she was pretty great in Ebana/Chigasaki/Gyobu’s route. And these three also surprised me with how much I liked them?? Gyobu especially I thought would annoy me, but in my last few routes I was extremely happy to see him because his personality often gets things moving (and Sena never does lol). I kept telling myself people trusted Sena because she’s so naive and in a way, too dumb (I say this maybe 20% affectionally, 80% frustratingly) to be the traitor, so I guess there’s a good thing to it. I usually want to like heroines, and she had really good moments I was proud of, but was so wholly inconsistent in her competency, especially cos the routes which reveal less don’t give her much to think about. At least her indecisiveness was uniform across the routes, for better or worse. She did really come across as sheltered girl who hasn’t experienced many bad people/situations and thus is sensitive to them, and maybe that’s what they were going for.

This world is controlled by The Director, and at first it seems great. You, Banjo, and seven other boys have all been transported to this shady location, and for the first couple of days are just told to hang out in a lovely house. Not only that, but anything in the world you all desire can be provided just by asking. Some things are just too good to be true though, and after this initial period the real fun begins. As messy as Charade Maniacs can be, I was definitely invested. I love a good mystery, Zero Escape and Buried Stars are my jam, so you can bet I was eating up all the twists and turns . This is a game that is just as much about the journey as it is the destination, with each route bringing you ever closer to the truth behind Hiyori and the other’s unusual circumstances. Much like Hiyori, the story constantly keeps you wondering “who is the traitor?” No one is above suspicion and I found myself along for the ride! I must have accused everyone at least twice over and I can honestly say I did not see the reveal coming (for better or worse). Trust me, you’ll want to know who it is! Look out for the traitor! Who can it be? – Work together with your costars to uncover clues and deepen your relationship with your love interests. You might even bring out some repressed feelings from your costars! But keep an eye out for anything suspicious. Charade Maniacs has an expansive cast of NINE love interests The nine LIs of Charade Maniacs (L to R): Kyoya Akase, Tomose Banjo, Mamoru Chigasaki, Mei Dazai, Keito Ebana, Ryoichi Futami, Souta Gyobu, Takumi Haiji, and Mizuki Iochi A mysterious figure abducts Hiyori Sena, transporting her to a strange world with nine other abductees and welcomes them to a world called Arcadia.

Summer break was around the corner. Hiyori Sena, a sophomore in high school, was living a peaceful life. One day, as she was walking home with her childhood friend, a masked figure appeared before them. The two were abducted and taken to a strange world with two moons. I agree with most of what you said and with the review. I actually quite enjoyed this game despite the art not being that outstanding compared to other releases around the same time. I liked discovering bits of the truth through all of the different routes. I must say, Dazai didn’t stand out to me before I started playing, but oh my 😍 I’ve found my next favorite VA. I actually also liked Akase a lot despite his route being the first one I completed. Saito Soma is always good, plus, I agree that they had good chemistry. I thought they were cute together even if their relationship was a little “basic.” I actually had high expectations for Gyobu because of the review, but was kind of underwhelmed. He was fine, but nothing was too memorable. I ended up liking Ebana more than I expected to, and was very disappointed with Futami despite the warning, as Seki Tomokazu is one of my favorite VAs 😅 I would have perhaps appreciated a light nudge in the direction of a more beginner-friendly path. In saying that, there is a post-game flowchart option that allows you to choose certain points in the story to start from, however, as someone with a particularly poor memory it’s not clear which starting points it’s showing you and it doesn’t feel very user-friendly. So, despite the intriguing story and very handsome people, the ambiguous ending you may receive and a few unanswered questions from multiple playthroughs are pretty off-putting. If there is one thing Charade Maniacs has going for it, it has to be it’s off the walls premise. Totally normal, high school sophomore Hiyori Sena and a group of nine strangers get isekai’d to another world where they are force to perform in weird dramas. If they refuse or fail to earn points from viewers, they’ll get eliminated. As if that wasn’t enough, one of them is secretly in leagues with their captors. So Hiyori and the others must sniff out the traitor before it’s too late. However, if you look to otome games primarily for steamy content, Charade Maniacs is unlikely to scratch that itch. Hiyori never goes farther than kissing in any of the routes, with nary a hint of anything more. In fact, most of the ending CGs don't even show their lips touching. It's all very chaste, and while I was content that my favorites got to kiss on-screen, I can see it leading to some frustration for people with different preferences. It’s giving dystopian YA novel vibes, but there are some fun twists and turns that make Charade Maniacs a unique experience in it’s own right. I can honestly say I was really interested in learning more about the world. It’s just too bad one of them isn’t who they say they are. Wait, what? That’s right. On top of having to act against their will in an assortment of dramas, there’s a traitor in the cast’s midst. Tomose Banjo (CV. Kenichi Suzumura) – Childhood best friend who is fiercely protective of Hiyori and distrusts everyone else on the Other World Stream. He joins the Cleaning Team. Nov 20 From the U.S. to Japan, You Can Control the Life-Size Moving Gundam from the Comfort of Your Own Home

Take The Stage With 9 Romanceable Costars! – Looking for someone to practice lines with? There are 9 potential love interests! But with a traitor on the loose, who can you really trust? Make the right choice to take part in a total of up to 9 routes.

LOS ANGELES, CA., April 26, 2023 – We are excited to announce the otome visual novel game, Charade Maniacs, will be arriving physically and digitally in North America and Europe for the Nintendo Switch™ on June 27. Maeno Tomoaki as “Keito Ebana”– Lupin (Code Realize), Riku (Lover Pretend), Yamanbagiri (Touken Ranbu), Red (TaiAli),Camus (Utapri), Radius (Period Cube), Keisuke Sanjo (CollarxMalice), Son Hak (Yona of the Dawn)

Visual novels and dating sims go together like peanut butter and chocolate, but sometimes dating doesn’t exactly suit the darker tone of a story. I’m all for love, romance and cuddles, but it’s hard to deny the appeal of the constant tension provided by a game like Danganronpa for example. As a general rule I’d say that when in mortal peril that love probably shouldn’t be the main thing on your mind, but nobody told Otomate that when they created their latest Otome game Charade Maniacs. I’d say it’s technically a game of mafia-meets-big-brother-meets- As the Gods Will, 🤣 well, minus the gruesome killings of course! The premise itself was very good and well presented at the outset. It really hyped me up for the game’s mystery aspect, fueling my excitement of wanting to delve deeper and uncover more hidden secrets of the world of Arcadia. Trying to avoid spoilers, I only read this review after I finished the game (bar one less important route that I really didn’t want to play, but I read a summary and it didn’t have many reveals). But, despite that imbalance, I did enjoy each route because of how dynamic the love interests are. Each LI has their own distinct personality and motivations, and regardless of how I felt about them I genuinely wanted to know more about them. Especially Iochi. I had heard that Charade Maniacs had a non binary love interests, and I’ll be honest I was curious to see how they would be portrayed in the game.Mamoru Chigasaki (CV. Daisuke Namikawa) – A quiet, reserved man who hates confrontation and who takes being on the Other World Stream harder than most. He joins the Information Team. Perhaps a general complaint that I have was the absence of a “Skip to the next choice” option. This feature would have greatly improved the user experience. Although a skipping option was available, its speed fell slightly short in comparison to other Otomate games. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I have a major weakness for death game-style, social deduction adventure games. I'll choose to replay the Danganronpa or Nonary Games series in a heartbeat over the latest Souls-like or shooter. So, when the words “death game” came out of a character's mouth in the first hour of the otome game Charade Maniacs, I was excited. Giddy, even. The boys were cute, the premise intriguing, and the genre one of my favorites; I knew I was in for a good time. And indeed, a good time was had.
