About this deal

The section of the gimbal that enables you to roll, tilt and pan your camera is made of metal. Each axis is controlled by a motor that produces a smooth movement. Grandes opciones de control con la aplicación gratuita ZY PLAY, que permite manejar remotamente el estabilizador y acceder a funciones tan interesantes como el time-lapse, la captura panorámica o la función de cámara lenta However, when you look at the material quality of the M2 S, it’s instantly apparent that this is a lower model than M3; it’s still well made, but the finish of the plastic isn’t nearly as nice as the M3 and closer to that used for the still excellent Smooth 5. The M2 S is a good balance between build and features, especially when you consider the price, and the fact that this small gimbal has the power to provide stabilisation for most compact mirrorless cameras with a lightweight lens.

Sitting between the superb ZHIYUN M3 and Smooth 5, the M2 S is the perfect balance of the two in every respect. Design-wise, it’s very similar to the M3, yet in size, it’s closer to the Smooth 5. Please also note that if your camera body of choice is not listed, the Zhiyun Crane M2 will still be able to provide you with some excellent level image stabilization but some of the features controlled via the gimbals handgrip such as auto-zoom will not be available. Zhiyun is releasing firmware updates on a regular basis to increase the number of supported cameras so by the time you read this it is likley that the list above will be out of date. Smartphone App Pantalla OLED para comprobar rápidamente el estado de parámetros como el Wi-Fi y el Bluetooth o la carga de la batería The first thing you notice about the M2 S is the weight; it’s incredibly light and a complete contrast to the original single-handed mobile gimbal stabilisers such as the Crane that only appeared a few years ago; this means that it’s more suitable for the masses and easier to use over long durations. The ZHIYUN M2 S gimbal only weighs in at 549g. On top of this, the new versions of the two leading point and shoot cameras on the market, the Canon G7X III and the Sony RX100 VII have also just been released onto the market. We have already noticed an absolute ton of people reaching out for advice on what gimbals they should be considered for each of these outstanding little cameras and as you can probably guess, its the Zhiyun Crane M2. It is almost as if Zhiyun had inside information on the release of these new cameras and timed the release of the Crane M2 to coincide with their release. Performance And FunctionalityThe balance of the camera is a little more sensitive than when used with a smartphone or action camera, as the camera’s weight is closer to the top end of the weight limit. While this isn’t an issue, you need to ensure the balance is good before starting. One thing that we often see people new to using a gimbal worry about is the balancing process but thankfully, Zhiyun gimbals have had one of the easiest balancing procedures for years now and the Zhiyun Crane M2 is no different. The gimbal is extremely easy to balance and the included user manual offers a very easy to follow tutorial on how to best balance the gimbal when you get it. Additionally, Zhiyun has the video above on their official YouTube channel going over how to balance the gimbal but it really is an easy process and we doubt that anyone will run into any issues. The gimbal performs well, holding a GoPro, Smart Phone or smaller mirrorless with the kit lens without issue. For something so lightweight, this is impressive.

There are others, too, including slow motion and panorama modes plus the ability to control the motion of the gimbal remotely from your phone’s touchscreen, if you have a mirrorless camera or action camera mounted – handy for reframing if you don’t fancy getting up from your chair continuously. Essentially the Crane M2 S is the lighter weight sibling of the M3; it does most of the same things but is slightly more limited by size and the weights of larger cameras. ZHIYUN’s build quality is always good, with the company carefully pitching the materials and features at very specific price points. Sat next to the M3, and it’s obvious where those cost savings are with the quality of the materials and features being a slight step down; however, place it next to the Smooth 5, and you can see a set-up. Zhiyun has chosen to use smaller motors and sensors in the M2 to keep it as small as possible but they still work perfectly and are ideal for lightweight cameras. The sensors are extremely sensitive and are able to rapidly detect even the slightest movement in your gimbal and send the relevant data to the Zhiyun balancing algorithm to be processed. The algorithm then works out how the gimbal is best able to correct the detected movement and sends the correct commands to the gimbal motors.El estabilizador más versátil del momento, capaz de soportar equipos de 130 a 720 gramos, como un teléfono móvil, una cámara compacta o de acción, o incluso cualquier cámara de óptica intercambiable y sin espejo con un tamaño y peso moderados A feature that I liked on the M3 was the small light, and here on the M2 S, it’s just as small and bright. The lamp offers 1000 lumens of illumination with five levels of adjustability. While the LED light is cool in colour temperature, ZHIYUN includes a selection of four filters that can be used to create different lighting effects.
